A retreat awaits you! Become best friends with sweetest boxer and 7 chickens!
Introduction
I am an author and speaker and looking forward to writing books when I’m in town. I rescued a boxer in December 22 who is my shadow. She is a sweetheart and is very affectionate!! I also am raising seven sweet chickens!! Although neither the chickens nor the boxer are any trouble, they do depend on eating a couple times a day and being loved on. I enjoy traveling and do not expect this to change so I need people who enjoy sweetness from my dog and my chickens( who produce fresh eggs every day). If you like to see the stars at night , listen to owls in the trees and want best friends with a sweet dog and chickens you’re at the right place.

Basically responsibilities would be to feed Carli twice a day - treats if you like and interact when you can- she likes to snuggle - and to make sure the chickens door is open in the morning and closed after they perch in the evening - after sunset). They like you to talk to them as well.

Beautiful place! If, like me, you crave peace and quiet, being remote in the country, and hearing only birds and the sound of farm animals in the distance—-you will be very happy here! Linda has outfitted her guesthouse with everything you need to be comfortable for your stay. The place was very clean, the bed was very comfy, the tiled shower had great water pressure and lots of hot water, and the kitchen was well equipped for making meals (FYI there is both a regular coffee maker and a Keurig). I enjoyed making breakfast with freshly laid eggs and also my dinner there, as restaurants/grocery stores are some distance away. It’s a good idea to arrive with a few groceries on hand for this reason. Linda’s property is very beautiful with the granddaddy oaks and it’s fun to sit in the Adirondack chairs with a book, coffee, or a lemonade—and just watch the chickens free roam the yard. Carli was an angel—you will fall in love with her quizzical expressions and she is very affectionate—she made for great company! The chickens were fun also, and I was actually able to pet them and pick them up, assisting a couple of them back into the coop to roost for the night (they mostly return to the coop by themselves after roaming the yard all day, but one chicken was always pushing the curfew). Linda was sweet and helpful, and has a great friend/neighbor if you have issues during your stay. Would recommend this petsit for those who really enjoy solitude or who are curious about rural life—or considering getting chickens! Two cute, historic towns worth visiting are Micanopy and Melrose, both about 25 minutes away. An interesting State Park I visited was The Devil’s Mill Hopper, on the outskirts of Gainesville….quite interesting geology and history…..and do beautiful.

Linda was very kind and communicative and Carley and the chickens (or ladies, as Linda refers to them) are very easygoing and a delight to care for. Carley is exceptionally loving- she just wants to give you hugs! The home is in a beautiful and private area close enough to Gainesville. It's accessible but offers a peaceful retreat away. It was nice to stay in the guesthome and have the separation from the main house- but still have access if necessary. Would highly recommend petsitting for Linda!
