Biscuit & Lily Seeking New Friends
Introduction
My husband, Craig and I (I go by Mimi) are now in our 70's (and still pretty active) and enjoy our retirement. We are keeping busy in life and one of the things we love is travel, whether near or far. We live in a small community, and our home is about 5 miles from the closest town. We have had sweet pets, dogs and cats over the years and our two now are pretty precious to us. Biscuit, part lab, 7 1/2 yrs & Lily Mae, tortoise cat, 12 yrs. We look forward to working with sitters that enjoy laid back, relaxing locations!

We live about 5 miles from Bowling Green, 20 miles from Fredericksburg and 40 miles from Richmond, VA. Our home, built in 1981 is a rancher, with plenty of room, creature comforts, fantastic wifi and television stations. Sitters will have their own bedroom and a bath that is across the hall. Our property sits off the road (Rt. 721, Caroline County, VA) on 13 1/2 acres of land. Plenty of room for a walk in the woods with Biscuit, watching the occasional fox, deer and many birds. It is a lovely location. Washer and dryer in the laundry room. We have a hot tub on the deck, The following are available for your use: (1) Bathroom - towels, washcloths, hair dryer, travel size shampoo and soaps. There is a handle on the side of the tub for assistance. (2) Kitchen - Dish liquid, dishwasher liquid, Sanitizing wipes, and usually pantry staple items. (3) Laundry: Laundry detergent, fabric softener, SHOUT (you know, to get the tough stains out!).

BISCUIT: very easy going, loves people and minds most of the time. He is fed 1 cup of dry food at 7:00am, Noon and 6:00pm, and he can tell time...LOL He does sleep beside our bed on a mat, but does not have to with the sitter. He is allowed on the couch, but not the bed. Since we have a large property he does not have to be on a leash, and can be let out by himself after being with the sitter for a day or two, for you to get used to him. He barks to be let back in. He loves to swing on our outdoor swing and put his head in your lap, if you are so inclined. He also loves to chase squirrels if they get on the deck, but you need to yell "SQUIRREL" for him to get excited! He is spoiled to the point that he expects a treat after each meal. We have plenty of treats for him in the cabinet. He and the cat do not get along, the cat's fault. He would love to be friends, but..... Sometimes, he loves to have us throw one of his stuffed toys down to the dining room and he scampers after it, but you have to say the old 1 - 2 - 3 and throw! He is a dear little boy. LILY: She is sweet, somewhat shy in the beginning, but not with Biscuit - she hisses and throws a paw out, when he passes her in the hall, and on occasion they will mix it up for about 5 seconds. Most of the time they ignore each other. We keep plenty of dry food in her bowl, and give her a small bit of canned cat food each morning in her bowl with water. I leave a small bowl of water on her table, but she rarely drinks it, I think she drinks from Biscuit's water, or a bit of shower water when we run the shower or tub with a bit of water. She is one of the softest kitties I have ever known and loves to be petted. If she gets to the point of being comfortable with you, she would sleep beside you, but you can keep her from doing that easily. She has the run of the house, as does Biscuit, and she sleeps where she chooses. She is very low maintenance, whereas I would not call Biscuit high maintenance, for he likes to snooze, he is just more friendly and fun! She does like to go outside on occasion, but I don't let her out after 8:30pm because I want to make sure she comes in before bedtime.

This was a pleasant and tranquil rural getaway, and the care of Biscuit and Lily was easy as pie. Biscuit is an endearing elderly gent. He will follow you around and want to lie near you, and when he needs to go outside a few times a day, will make it clear. He doesn’t need any supervision while exploring the expansive property and will also let you know when he wants to come back in. He is mostly quiet and calm, although he does go on a brief barking jag when let out first thing in the morning and again before bedtime. It is especially refreshing to be able to walk with him on the paths through the woods encircling the property without needing a leash or even calling out for him to follow. He also enjoys playing fetch but won’t bring the sticks to you :) Lily was more retiring and didn’t venture up from the basement (at least that I noticed) except to eat her breakfast and use her litter box. She spent most of her day under a blanket on the downstairs couch, but after a few days, when I joined her there to watch the basement TV, she would emerge to be petted – and really does have the softest fur! Other than that, the ground floor has everything one needs. The house was clean and comfortable and has both cable and streaming services, as well as excellent Wi-Fi for those working remotely. Mimi and Craig were very easy-going and hospitable, offering me use of their K-cups, the perishable items in the fridge, their pick-up truck, and even use of their Gator to drive around the property. For provisions, the Food Lion is a ten-minute drive away. If you are looking for a relaxing visit to the country, I recommend applying to spend time with Biscuit and Lily in Mimi and Craig’s home.

Wilma and Craig were amazing hosts. We felt right at home for the stay and Biscuit has got to be one of the best black labs ever. We had some great adventures on the property. Great area and great people around town. Good ice cream at Gibson and great treats at the Mix House. Thank you so much for everything we truly enjoyed the time with you both and Lily and Biscuit. Wilma and Craig’s kitchen is set up so convenient and easy to access everything you need to cook or bake it was a lot of fun.

Mimi and Craig were fantastic. Mimi provided comprehensive information for their beautiful home and fur pals. Their home is beautiful with a brand new functional kitchen, a lovely living room with glass doors looking out to the wooded backyard. I even had some deer visit one day. They are located near restaurants, shopping and attractions. Mimi's friend even stopped by with a stack of brochures from the visitors center. There is no shortage of things to do. Biscuit and Lily are a joy. Biscuit has such a fun personality. He loves to play tug of war with his toys, walk around the yard, and snuggle on the couch. Of course, he won't turn down the occasional snack. He spent many hours nestled under the table, at my feet, while I worked. Lily is a bit more reserved. It took her a few days to warm up to me. Once she did, she would ask to be pet and let outside. Sadly, they had to end their vacation early, but offered me the chance to stay to sightsee if I wanted. I gladly recommend this sit. If I'm ever in the area, I would gladly sit for them again.

I had a wonderful time with Biscuit and Lilly. Mimi and Craig have a fantastic home and a nice rural property. They are gracious and kind. Everything is as described. The care and organization they have put into their home shows with an ideal layout and set up. If I'm available when they need a sitter I will go back. Both pets are well trained.
