House (and beagle!) in North County Dublin
Introduction
Hi all, I'm Jon and I live with my family (my wife Dagmar, daughters Sophie-Joy (9) and Pippa (7), Cookie the beagle and Nibbles the cat) in Malahide, County Dublin. I work in aircraft finance, a job that brings me all over the world and has presented its share of challenges in recent times - as has supporting Newcastle United, my other vice.... Cookie is a wonderfully natured, sociable canine companion but he does not do well at kennels at all. He needs his own environment, hence we love Trusted Housesitters. This Easter we are heading to family in The Netherlands and are looking for housesitters.

Our home is located on the coast between the villages of Malahide and Portmarnock in North County Dublin, Ireland. Malahide is a beautiful village famous for its marina, beaches, castle/demesne and wonderful bars and restaurants (please check http://www.enjoymalahide.com). From Malahide the spectacular North Dublin coast is easily accessible, as are the historic sites of County Meath (most famously the Battle of the Boyne site and Newgrange stoneage monument). In the other direction, Dublin with all it has to offer is just a short ride away by metro, train or bus. Our house is a 'neo Georgian' split level terrace featuring stunning sea views, particularly from our newly converted attic office, which is available for sitters to use and would be ideal to 'work from home'. Sitters will stay in our guest room (twin beds) and will have full use of the large lounge, fully equipped kitchen, office, two bathrooms and garden (which is not huge but is a real sun-trap - we also have terrace heaters and a Monolith kamado available to use). We have SONOS installed throughout and access to several major streaming services. Malahide Castle is a 15/20 minute walk from the house; the village centre a beautiful 30 min stroll along the coast (there is also a regular bus). Full disclosure: (i) split level means lots of stairs! (ii) as we live on a hill, guests without a car should arrange for shopping to be delivered (we can help with that). The nearest supermarket is ~20 mins walk away. While a car is not required to stay here, the use of one would provide more options for day trips etc. We really love this house and have lived here nearly 10 years.

Cookie normally requires two walks per day of ~45 mins each (depending how many other dogs he finds!) or one longer walk of ~1.5hrs if that doesn't suit. He does love to play so really needs to be let off the lead. He loves the beach or the park behind our house. Cookie is used to being left alone for a few hours. He has no special dietary requirements. Nibbles is a very low maintenance cat and just requires food and water topping up from time to time and the litter tray emptied (she has a cat flap so in summer spends most of her time outside). She likes to curl op on your lap in the evening. Other than the animals, watering a small number of plants and baskets is the only 'chore'.

This sit in Malahide was lovely. Jon & Dagmar's communication prior and during the sit was great. They provided detailed instructions for the sit and great maps for dog walking. They have two pets. A sweet cat Nibbles, who sleeps most of the day, but in the evening likes to comes for some cuddles on the sofa. Cookie, the Beagle, is a lovely dog. It was obvious to me that he is super loved by his two girls Sophie-Joy and Pippa. He loves very much to be cuddled and is always near you. Both pets were easy to care for, so TJ & I had lovely time spending time with them.

Jon, Dagmar, Sophie Joy, Pippa, Cookie and Nibbles were excellent hosts! They’re house was so lovely to stay in and the Malahide area was beautiful and had lots of fun things to do. We enjoyed taking Cookie to Malahide Castle and onto the beach for walks. Cookie is a very friendly, attention-seeking dog that will lap up every bit of love you have to give him! Nibbles was very independent and loved some cuddles on her terms. We really enjoyed our time in Malahide, especially meeting such lovely people and pets! Thank you!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay with Cookie and Nibbles! Cookie is a handsome and fun-loving pup who will surely melt your heart in a minute. Nibbles keeps to herself most of the time, roaming the gardens and stopping by occasionally for treats and scratches. Jon, Dagmar and their lovely daughters immediately made us welcome into their comfortable and gorgeous home. We were fortunate enough to spend some time with them beforehand, meeting Cookie and getting to know one another as well. In summary, this house sit ticked all the boxes for us!
