Beautiful cottage, loving pets and great access to fabulous places to visit.
Introduction
You couldn't wish for a more central location to explore the UK. Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham, the Peak District, Chatsworth House, Belvoir Castle, there are countless interesting places to explore. Our cottage is situated in a tiny, picturesque village, with thatched houses and a lively pub. Pete and I are both retired, we like to travel but also love our pets to be cared for in their home where their routine is least disrupted.

We live in a beautiful little village very close to East Midlands airport and Junction 23a of the M1. The village is in a valley and is not overflown by aircraft, so we are barely disturbed by noise. Donington race track is less than a mile away. Nottingham, Derby and Leicester are each within 15 miles and offer shopping, theatres and history. The Peak District and Alton Towers are accessible. There is a bus service through the village to Nottingham, or change at the airport and there are buses from there to many locations. There is no shop in the village but there is a great pub 5 minutes walk from the house that does nice home-cooked meals. There is a handy general grocer and an organic farm with a shop and cafe in the next village, which is Long Whatton, along with two amazing gastropubs. Castle Donington is 10 minutes away by car and has a good Co-op and Aidi. Borough Steet has beautiful gift shops, fab cafes and lots of characterful pubs as well as 4 excellent Indian restaurants. You will need a car here.

We would need you to look after, feed, fuss and play with the cats. Feed the fish: tropical fish feed once a day with a 25% water change every other week. Chickens let out every morning. Top up pellets and corn and water changed. Poo pick the Eggloo. Shut them in before dusk. If we are away two weeks or more it would be great if plants could be watered and maybe grass cut. This does involve a ride on mower and an acre of grass, so it will depend on your fitness! Generally keeping the house clean and tidy as you use it.

We really enjoyed out sit at Diseworth. 2 lovely playful cats who walk with you down the very large garden to feed the chicken then play hide and seek on the way back. Bed was very comfy and we were made to feel very at home. A bottle of wine, jam and beer were waiting for us on arrival which was a lovely touch and 2 treasure trail games which we nearly completed but had great fun doing it. All in all it was a great sit and we would recommend.

Such a WONDERFUL housesit. Communication was easy before and during the sit. Nicky left a delicious welcome gift that did not last the weekend. Thank you Nicky :-) Nicky and Pete's house is full of character, very comfortable and peaceful. It was our first sit with chickens and we loved walking down the garden with Eddie and Ernie in the morning to let the chickens out, clean out their house and hunt for eggs. Eddie and Ernie were friendly and fun to be around. Would highly recommend this lovely house sit.

This has to be one of my absolute favourite house sits. Nicky is lovely and we clicked right away when I visited before the sit. Her welcome pack provided all the helpful tips about what to do and she drew me a useful map of the village to show me walks on the doorstep. Quite by surprise, she left me an amazing gift and edible treats, all very unnecessary but thoughtful and kind nonetheless. The two adorable young cats, Eddie & Ernie are cute, friendly when they get to know you, and so hilarious to watch playing and romping around! They particularly love being out and about in the beautiful gardens and follow you like little shadows when you go for a wander outside. The tropical fish indoors are very relaxing and don't take any work except for tank cleaning every 10 days. Diseworth is a lovely little village tucked away in beautiful Leicestershire countryside yet close to some nice towns like Loughborough, Ashby and Beeston. Despite being close to East Midlands airport, I genuinely didn’t hear a single plane day or night! The only noticeable noise, apart from the birds, was in the conservatory where you could sometimes hear the racing cars at Donington park. The house itself is just fabulous - quirky yet smart, large yet cosy, private and set in spacious grounds. There's even a hot tub on the back patio! The location is my ideal, very central, easy access to motorways, beautiful rolling countryside and quaint pubs and walks around. Indoors, the kitchen with its Aga style cooker (though electric!) is fab. It has everything you could possibly want. The lounge is huge so in the evenings I only used the small snug, which I found very cosy. And I have to say the double bed in the spare room was super comfortable, always a bonus! In the morning after feeding the two scallywags who rush frantically into the kitchen for their meals, I’d have a wander up the garden to feed the pond fish and enjoy a breath of fresh air. Then it was a joy to sit in the sunny conservatory and relax doing a puzzle, something I’d forgotten I love to do. This was also the routine after lavishing in the hot tub ;-) But it was quiet and easy care so I did get plenty of work done too! Anyway, I’ll stop waxing lyrical - definitely I recommend this house sit if you get the chance. Lovely people, fabulous home, adorable cats. Hope to repeat the experience if/when Nicky and Peter go off on more adventures!
