Adorable calm dog requires love and companionship in comfortable family home.

Introduction

I work full time for the NHS and my husband is now retired. We love to travel as often as we can, for weekends away or longer holidays within the UK or sometimes abroad. We have a motorhome and usually take our beloved dog Clyde with us on all of our UK adventures, however occasionally there are trips that he can't come with us on such as when we go home to New Zealand to see my family. Our children have now all flown the coop, have their own children and work during the day so can't look after Clyde when we go away, so we're looking for loving and kind sitters to keep him safe and secure and give him lots of cuddles and attention while we're away.

Home & location

Our home is a four bedroom (one of which is an office), semi-detached chalet bungalow at the top of a quiet close with fantastic neighbours. Sitters would stay in the large downstairs double room with a super comfy bed and fantastic views. The has a large south-facing garden which is a real sun-trap. There are wonderful views of the South Downs from two of the bedrooms and - if you stand on tiptoes - you can just about see the sea. :-) It is a 10 minute walk to the nearest bus-stop which is really well serviced by two buses that run regularly into the centre of Brighton and back, and a train station also nearby which runs up to London, to Brighton or West along the coast. Portslade is a lovely old village with lots of charm, and there is a small parade of shops with a local shop, florist, hair dressers, takeaway outlets, cafe, gym and more. There are also some great pubs in the vicinity. It's a short walk away from easy access to the South Downs, which are really stunning and a great place to go on long walks with the dog. And of course with easy access to Brighton town centre you're spoiled for choice for things to do - shopping, cinema, theatre, the Lanes, the beach front and pier - the list goes on. There are also some wonderful quieter dog-friendly beaches for walking at low tide.

Responsibilities

Clyde gets up around 07.30/08:00 and gets let out into the back garden for a 'pee pee'. He is then fed his breakfast of meat and veg (all meals will be pre-made ready to go in the freezer - they just need to be defrosted either overnight or during the day) with a Yumove tablet and a heaped measure of Plaque off (spoon is in the pot). He will usually then need to go outside for a 'poo poo', please ensure you keep an eye on him and that these are picked up and bagged straight away and popped in the designated poo bin so he doesn't get tempted to 'recycle' his food. He then gets a walk around mid-morning either around the local area or up on the Downs. Please ensure he does not go for a walk at least 45 minutes before or after he has eaten otherwise he may throw up. He has lunch around 1pm of half an apple (no pips obviously) and a carrot chopped into batons, and dinner at 6pm (again meat and veg, but nothing else). He has a second Yumove tablet and a Dentastix chew at 8.30 pm. He goes for a final pee whenever you're ready to go to bed (which for us is usually around 10.30 pm) and sleeps in the front room/living room on the couch. In winter we cover him with his fleecy blanket to keep him a bit warmer. He needs no medication. Depending on the time of year and the length of stay there may be some plants that require watering, however it will not be onerous.
