Dog sitter needed in a fun and relaxing home.
Introduction
We're a little family of 4 (if you include our doggo, Crash). We are Americans living in the UK, so we travel home to the States a couple of times a year. I work remotely as a software engineer, so we're able to travel for longer periods of time without having to worry too much. Our little doggo Crash is a Yorkshire x Jack Russel. He's full of energy and very cuddly. He's generally well-behaved and loves to play all day. He loves to play fetch with his frisbee and tug of war. We have a gated medium-sized yard with a patio for you both to enjoy, and just minutes away from a 23mile trail through small towns and the countryside. Lots of dog-friendly pubs around, too!

We have a modern and funky detached house in a quiet suburb right outside the city. It's a bright 3 bedrooms 1.5 bath home. 1 is a large master, a double with a loft bed for my teenager (with lots of open ground space and an extra mattress), and a double room that's used as an office and computer space (but can fit a small bed if need be). It's about a 15-20 minute drive to Leeds City Center or Bradford and a 5-minute walk to a town full of little shops, cafes, and eateries. The main bus stop is a 10-minute walk away and takes about 30 minutes to get to the cities. There's a 23-mile trail 2 minutes up the street that travels through neighboring towns and the countryside. All the amenities and comforts you'd expect at home. Washer and dryer, indoor clothing line if needed. Instant hot water tap, 4 ovens (normal/microwave combo, steam, and two warmers), and an electric stovetop. The kitchen, sitting room, and main bath all have underfloor heating. The rest of the house is heated with radiators on a smart thermostat. Our south-facing sitting room opens up with bi-fold doors to a tiled back deck holding a sectional and grill. The bright dining room table has room for 8, but has squeezed in a bit more for parties. Our main living room has a 55" TV, over 10 video game consoles, and countless games, a VR set, an arcade cabinet with over hundreds of games, a dart board, and a drum set. There's also a wall filled with books and comics of all sorts. We have a shed and cellar full of bikes, skateboards, skates, and disc golf accessories that are available for you to use if you're an outdoorsy type. We're a really active household.

Crash: Morning: He wakes up when you wake up, but he'll ask to go out around 8am. If you want to sleep in, he'll usually jump right back into bed with you. We feed him half a portion of his daily food in the morning. Behavior: He's very energetic. He will always want to play, bringing you toys often. He likes 30 minutes walks and enjoys longer hikes, as well. He's generally friendly with most dogs and likes to approach every dog that passes. This can obviously cause problems, so you would need to be careful with dog interactions. He's a dog's dog. He hates cats and the postman. He will bark his head off if he sees a cat and will attack the mail when it comes through the door. We have to move the dog to another room if we have to answer the door for a package. When a new person comes over, he gets very excited. He may jump up for the first few seconds but if you ignore him upon entrance, he will sit down to wait for a pet. He likes to chew up napkins, socks, and hard bits he finds on the ground (like pens or plastic tops), but you can ask him to "drop it" and with some reluctance, he will. He won't steal food off your plate, and he loves a treat. Naps: He reflects your behavior, so if you're lying in the couch, he'll likely do the same. Night: At night, he eats the other half of his food portion when we eat dinner. He starts sleeping around 930. If we're watching TV, he'll sleep near us. We'll tell him it's bed time, and he'll be excited to go to bed. We take him out, and he sleeps in our room. He's likely to start off in the bed, he may sleep on or against you, but he has his own beds he moves to at night. We like to keep the door cracked, so he can move in or out. Otherwise, he'll scratch the door to have us open it if he wants to wander while we're sleeping. Plants: My plants are downstairs in the main areas of the house. I just water them every Saturday and they seem to stay alive. Emergencies: If something happens to Crash, our vet is a 10 minute walk down the street. Their 24/7 emergency clinic is about a 15 minute drive. We have an account with the vet and pet insurance, so he should be covered for most things. We will leave instructions with the vet if something has gone horribly wrong and worse decisions are to be made.

This was a great sit. Crash is adorable and a little ball of energy. The house is lovely and not too far from Leeds and Bradford. Shane was really helpful, the welcome guide was very detailed, she gave me a tour of the house when I arrived, and was always available by phone if I had any questions. Would recommend.

Crash is every bit as adorable in personality as he is cute. Such a sweet little dog, Crash is full of fun and affection, a pleasure to look after; we both thoroughly enjoyed our time with him 🥰 The home is lovely, very stylish and comfortable, with all amenities, and we were made very welcome. All in all definitely a great sit, and we would be happy to return in the future.
