Fluffy Cat in Countryside Village at the Foothills of the Malverns

Introduction

Hi! I'm Gemma, a Software Engineer from Belfast currently living in Malvern. My hobbies include bellringing, bouldering, and morris dancing. I have no family nearby and I enjoy travelling, so having a house/pet sitter is great!

Home & location

I own a 2-bed semi-detatched house at the foot of the Malvern hills on the border between Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire. You can walk from my house to the top of the nearest peak in about one hour, or there are also car parks all along the hills. There is a common in the village with plenty of walks, an orchard beside the village church, and a nature reserve. Other things to do in the area include the Malvern theatres, events at the Three Counties Showground, and various fairs/festivals throughout the year. The Three Counties Showground is a 5min drive away, making this the ideal location for attending any events there. For day trips, the nearest train station is accessible via taxi, and if you have your own car there is free parking at the station. Worcester is about a 20min drive away; Gloucester and Cheltenham 40mins. You will be sleeping in the main bedroom which has one standard double bed and some wardrobe space. There is also a double sofa bed in the living room. There is a study with a small workspace, a small kitchen, standard bathroom with bath, and downstairs toilet (though this is where the cat's litter tray is kept). You will be responsible for looking after one very fluffy cat. He is very friendly and loves cuddles, but will bite if you pick him up. He loves being brushed. He is an indoor cat and must not go outside as he has a compromised immune system; however, he is not on any medication and does not have any additional care needs. The TV is not hooked up for live viewing, but has many streaming service apps. You are welcome to use my accounts or to log yourself in if you have your own account.

Responsibilities

Cat: Mack eats a mix of dry food and wet food. I make sure his dry food bowl is full every morning. He gets one pouch of wet food in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening. I usually brush him a little in the evenings but this doesn't need done every day. His litter tray needs freshening up each morning, with a full clean out a couple of times per week. He must not be let outside, and he is getting increasingly curious about what exists beyond the door - I need someone who is confident about catching him if he escapes. Plants: Indoor plants won't need watering. Outdoor plants need watering only in the summer. I have a watering can that can be filled from either of the two water butts. Bins: The bins go out on Monday nights to be collected on Tuesday mornings. In general, I'm happy if the house is clean and the cat is happy when I get back.

I enjoyed my sit at Gemma s very much. Gemma has a comfortable home and I was made to feel very welcome . Her instructions and attention to detail with regard to Mack and the routine in the house made everything much simpler for me, Mack is a delight and quite a character! He loves lots of play and is funny to watch. I would definitely recommend a sit at Gemma s. Thank you Gemma.
