A break in the country with 2 furry friends for company

I am a busy working mother with two daughters who come home occasionally! I love to travel but want to make sure that our much loved golden retriever and his feline friend are safe and happy at home!

Our five bedroomed family home sits in a tiny village situated five minutes from the beautiful Woburn Abbey estate. Sitters would have access to all the downstairs living space (living kitchen, sitting room, dining room, conservatory) and the guest room which has it's own en suite bathroom. Surrounded by fields & country side, we are only a 50 minute train journey from the local station into central London or less than an hours drive to Oxford or Cambridge and the shops, theatres and cinemas of Bedford or Milton Keynes are only 20 minutes away - so plenty to see and do - but a car is pretty much essential as we only get one bus a day through the village!

Routine Morning - Feed Fergus & the two cats & let them out into the garden. - Felix has medication before breakfast Take Fergus for a walk Evening - Take Fergus for another walk - Feed Fergus - Give Felix medication - Let cats out at night There are very few fixed responsibilities - the most important job is companionship and affection for all of our animals. Fergus is very young & enthusiastic and is learning how to behave but may need regular reminders as he can be very cheeky! The cats come and go and will choose when they need the company and attention - as most cats do!

It was an absolute pleasure taking care of Fergus and Oreo this past week. Fergus is a lovely young retriever who was very well behaved and walked beautifully on his lead. He's very funny and entertaining especially when he comes in from the garden with muddy paws and a guilty (but proud) look on his face. Oreo comes and goes as he pleases but always came in to say hello in the morning and enjoyed being fussed over. Fiona's house is a lovely, relaxing place to be in with a wonderful garden. We were made to feel right at home by Fiona and everything was explained perfectly. We would love to take care of this pair of delightful pets again if needed.

Fiona’s sit has been an absolute pleasure. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Fiona is a very kind and warm lady who we had the pleasure of meeting a couple of weeks in advance, when she invited us to her house to meet herself, Fergus (the dog) and Felix (cat). Oreo (the other cat), was out at the time. It also gave us the opportunity to see the house and get a feel for the place. Fiona was very hospitable, we had a cup of coffee/tea and got to know each other which was a delight. We met a very energetic and excited Furgus, who also gave us a very warm welcome. Felix, is an old boy, he was very sweet and gentle. This sit was an absolute joy to do. We had the pleasure of sitting over Fergus’ 1st Birthday, where we gave him the best 1st Birthday we felt we possibly could. We took him to Woburn Deer Park nearby and gave him a nice long walk. He must be kept on the lead, at all times during walks and he is a brilliant walker. It was a pleasure to celebrate Fergus’ Birthday and we felt it would also help put Fiona’s mind at ease too, knowing he had a great day. We sung him HBD multiple times throughout the day. Fergus is a young pup, full of energy and excitement but he absolutely loves his walks, the longer, the better, he won’t complain. If he gets a nice long walk in, he is generally calmer for the rest of the day or if he gets his two, regular morning and evening walks, this keeps his energy levels balanced. We fell in love with Fergus, he is playful, sweet, docile and super friendly, just a big softy, he loves attention and affection. He will bark to let you know when it’s breakfast time or if he wants to go out to pee. He is very well trained. He’s such a good boy and we fell in love with him. Felix is an old boy, he is such a sweetheart. He’s so calm, he enjoys going outside and doing his own thing. However, he also enjoys his indoor time, going by the radiator, in the sitting room to lay down. He is a very vocal cat and he will let you know to open the baby gate to let him through to the sitting room. He also ‘meow’s’ for food. He lets you pick him up, pet him and kiss him. Felix required medication and eye drops during our sit, which was no problem, at all and Fiona clearly left instructions on how to do this. Felix was a very sweet cat. We adored him. Oreo, is much more of a free spirit, he goes off gallivanting and doing his thing outside, as long as you leave food out, he will come inside and eat when it’s convenient to him. He is a big, very cute, fluffy looking cat. However, he’s a little more shy and sceptical than the other two pets. I think Oreo needs a little more time, than we had there, to fully warm up to new people. We saw him a few times and always made sure he was happy, fed and watered. Overall, Fiona left us clear and concise instructions which was super helpful in caring for Fergus, Felix and Oreo and she very kindly left us two bottles of wine. We highly recommend Fiona and her sit. Fiona and her pets are truly delightful and it was genuinely sad having to leave the animals, when we had to leave. We’d be delighted to sit for Fiona again, should she ever need.

It was such a lovely house-sit. Fiona is very organised and left us lots of information. A great communicator before our sit. Fergus was very loving and loved his walks and liked to spend time in the garden, but happily tried to dig up parts when our backs were turned!! Felux appeared like clockwork fir breakfast & dinner and was happy to dniggke up on the sofa in the evening. Oreo was the Scarlett Pimpernel in disguise!! Fiona's hone was lovely and a great place to chill.

Fiona was an amazing host, she showed me around the village before she left so I could be familiar with the area. Fergus was the sweetest Golden Retriever ever ! He is still learning but he is very well trained already. I would highly recommend !

I loved the time I share with Harry and the cats. Harry is soo cute old dog. Fiona were so nice, kind and lovely person. House is so comfortable and beautiful.
