We live in trendy Carrboro, NC, which is right next to the more traditional Chapel Hill. We have the best of several worlds: nature, great dining, and university life. Step off our back patio onto a walking trail through the woods. Walk to a local micro-brewery, coffee shop, or farmers' market. This is the ideal home for a time of retreat or exploring a vibrant community.

Josie is an 18 month old (born in March 2022) rescue puppy in the hound family. She has a very good disposition and is well behaved, affectionate, smart, friendly, and not barky. We value a well-behaved dog, so she has been enrolled in obedience training. She is house and crate trained, and sleeps through the night without whining. She walks with a loose leash and is in the process of learning polite greeting (not jumping up on people). Her active times are in the morning (normal breakfast time) and early afternoon. In between, she is happy to lie on the floor near her human. She will need someone who likes to play with dogs and understands the needs of puppies. Beyond this, we have a number of house plants that need watering once a week, but there aren't many. We need our mail brought in and trash/recycling put out to the curb.

Josie is a bright, energetic puppy who loves attention. The daily walks around the pond out back were something Josie and I both looked forward to. The communication with Jim and Gayle is everything you want in a house sit. Even tho traveling internationally they responded quickly to any questions I had. Their home is welcoming and full of the most wonderful books. Carborro is an interesting town with friendly people. Be sure to check out the Farmers Market!

My stay at Jim's in Carrboro was incredible! I would absolutely recommend working with Jim. Jim and his partner Gayle are incredibly kind, compassionate, intelligent, and intentional beings. Simply being in their home was an honor. Anyone with a sense of curiosity will never need to leave the house (other than to walk doggos) thanks to their incredible book collection. I so deeply appreciated how Jim and Gayle connected with me and got to know me throughout the trip. I learned a lot through speaking with them! We were all able to communicate effectively throughout the process. I felt confident from day 1 that Jim would be someone I could work harmoniously with, especially should the need for solutions arise. Sammy and Rae (Sammy's +1 for this particular trip) were such sweet angels, absolute delights. Sammy is an elder pup whose personality really started to shine through halfway or so in the trip. He's a sweetheart and was simple to care for, especially considering his age. I was so proud of him for eating all of his food and being such a good boy while his parents were away! Rae, who was a "guest pup" for this trip - is an adorable young mutt. We had so much fun taking long walks around the beautiful Carrboro area. To anyone looking to explore a charming, progressive NC town - this is the spot, and Jim is the person to work with! Thanks Jim for the incredible stay!

Sharon was one of the best sitters we've had yet - and all of ours have been good. She sent us a daily photo and update. When we returned from our 6-day trip, we could see that our dog, Josie, had become attached to her. Both our house and our dog were very well cared for. We would invite Sharon back without any hesitation.
