Introduction

Welcome to our lovely 16 century, Devon Farmhouse. We hope you will enjoy being here with our pets. We will be away on holiday from 31st August to 16th September, but possibly may have to leave on the 30th to get our flight. We would love someone to care for Nusu, who loves her walks and the more variety of walks she get the better. She loves the moors, woods and particularly the beaches. Kili, our cat, is pretty self-sufficient but would like feeding and cuddles, as well as a bit of grooming if possible. Look forward to hearing from you. Jo

Home & location

We live in a rural countryside setting between Dartmoor and Bodmin moor. 40 mins from the North Cornwall coast. 10 mins from the A30. 15 mins from Launceston and 20 mins from Tavistock. Our home is very much a family home which is always beautifully warm and cosy. The kitchen/sitting area has an Aga and log burner so beautifully warm. The sitters will have an ensuite bedroom with double bed and the use of all the receptions rooms in the house. There is so much to do in the area with Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor and lots of beaches within an hours drive. A car is a must.

Responsibilities

Look after and walk dog while enjoying being in rural Devon setting in a beautiful 16th Century Farmhouse. We also have a cat, who pretty much looks after herself but needs feeding! The dog gets walked first thing in the morning before being fed, about 7am. She needs at least one decent walk a day. We have a walk straight out into our own fields where she likes do her morning duties. Fed at 5pm Go out into the garden before bed time. Nusu sleeps in the kitchen She can go into TV room and Conservatory but not upstairs or on the sofas in the house. The outside sofas are the exception.

Jo & Gary are perfect hosts and they live in just the most beautiful rural location, right on the Southern Devon and Northern Cornwall boarder. Maisha and Nusu love getting out and about for long walks, whist mysterious Kili the cat just loves lounging about. All three are you best friend at meal times, particularly Kili at breakfast time. Sue & Vince are wonderful locals who you will meet from time to time. they are so helpful in finding new locations and ideas to explore that lovely region. There is just so much to see and do within an hours drive or less from this location. This is my 'Happy Place' and I cannot recommend this beautiful location, wonderful people and stunning house more highly. I will definitely like to return sometime soon. Thank You, Stan

Jo & Gary were always at hand to message or talk to, as needed. They welcomed me into their beautiful home, which made me feel at ease. Jo is very organised and their Welcome Guide has all of the essential information required to run their home & care for their lovely fur babies. Kili the mysterious cat is adorable, she really shows you love when dishing out her breakfast!m, otherwise she is very independent. Both Maisha (10) & Nusu (3) were great companions too. Both are really well behaved on & off the lead and their recall to a Whistle is reassuring, particularly if you have tasty dog treats as a reward & incentive to reinforce the desired behaviour. Gill and Vince are wonderful local folk who can give sitters tips on sights to see & dog walks too. The dogs love the river walk at the Lifton Recreation grounds, as there is a lot of grass tree cover & shade. The location is beautiful countryside, with loads of shops in Launceston, 4 or 5 miles drive. Lovely beaches, coastal path walks, river walks, lakes & dams - a real peaceful retreat. I would return in a heartbeat. Thank You for entrusting me with the care of your lovely pets & your beautiful home. Thx Stan

We had a fantastic time looking after the wonderful trio, we came with my 2 year old and they were all great with children. Nusu is an energetic lovely dog, we had lots of fun with her she's playful and very clever! Maisha is so loving and sweet she will melt your heart, she just loves sitting on your lap and cosying up whenever and wherever possible! If you love cuddly dogs you have come to the right place! The pair together are such a dynamic team, they get on so well it's very sweet to watch, they often share the same bed and get on amazingly. Killi is really lovely aswel, she needs a good combing on a regular basis due to how fluffy she is, but she tends not to mind and it means you get to spend time with her 1 on 1, she likes a good tickly behind the ear and is very effectionate, she's not allowed in the main part of the house and it seems to be part of her daily challenge to get in thier somehow, which is quite amusing. We got into a nice routine with them, they love to go out in the car so most days we took them to the woods, the lake, the beach or the river or just for a general adventure somewhere new. They definitely prefer being off lead which is no problem being in the middle of the countryside with so many places to go. Communication with Jo was great, I felt able to ask questions and really felt like we could relax and enjoy our stay, I was a bit more nervous than normal because it was for a much longer time frame than previously done but I couldn't have asked for a nicer petsit and we were made to feel completely at home. Definately would do it again if it fitted with everyone's schedules. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful home in the country! We are delighted that Jo and Gary trusted us with their home and the girls - Maisha, Nusu and Kili. The house is very comfortable and toasty warm, and it was wonderful to have the luxury of Gill (cleaner) and Vince (gardener). Kili (cat) was easy to look after - as long as she was fed she was happy and would sometimes allow you to pet her. Otherwise she's completely self-sufficient. Maisha and Nusu enjoy their walks in the neighbouring fields or a drive to the beach or woods. They are beautiful, affectionate dogs and we miss them already!

Just finished sitting for Jo and Gary, they are great and generous hosts, easy to handle in before and between the sit. Her daughter made us a warm welcome. Jo had baked us a delicious zucchini cake. It was a wonderful 6 weeks time with Nusu, Maisha and Kili. They behaved well, no problems at all. They love to get their tummy rubbed. Please comb Kili daily. For this you also get a nice purr. I miss the 3 beauties already. Both dogs like to ride in the car, which is necessary to explore the great landscape around Launceston with them. There are so many stunning places.,Roadford Lake, Meldon Reservoir, Dartmoor (Pork Hill Car Park), Sandymouth Beach, Bodmin Moor... Jo gave us numerous walking maps and guides. The property is beautiful, the perfect equipped kitchen with everything woman needs... an AGA oven, which is nice for cooking and makes it pleasantly warm. The cozy "conservatory", great for reading. Includes helping, friendly neighbors, as well as a gardener and a lovely cleaning fairy We can highly recommend everyone to apply for this sit and will be more than happy to come back if the opportunity arises.
