My one-bedroom condo is located in scenic Canaan Valley, in the Allegheny Highlands of West Virginia. My second story unit has a balcony with a view of the mountains and valley in the distance. It is fully equipped and there is year-round maintenance. Our condo complex also has a pool that is open from the end of May until early September. My home is very compact so it would be best to consider it to be most appropriate for a single person or a couple, but not more. The condo is within steps to the Monongahela National Forest which allows easy access to hiking trails just out the back door. Other public lands that surround or are near the property are the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area, Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Blackwater Falls State Park, and Canaan Valley State Park. Many hiking and biking trails make up a system of recreational trails that could take years to fully explore! Canaan Valley itself boasts two downhill ski areas (Timberline and Canaan Valley Resort State Park). Whitegrass Ski Touring Center, a cross-country ski area, also has a terrific restaurant in a rustic setting and draws folks from all over the US and internationally. This area is rural but two nearby small towns, Thomas and Davis, have restaurants, bars, shopping, music venues, brewpubs, and art galleries. The closest grocery store is 5 miles away. The recent completion of Interstate 48, allows an under 3-hour travel time from the metro Washington DC area.
