I came across the advert because Els and Nico's home is so lovingly and tastefully furnished, already in the photos, with a dream garden. And then a wood-burning stove. Simply perfect and Els and Nico telling me: "This is your house at this time. What confidence. Thank you! And it also feels like I'm visiting friends. Nico, a gourmet and fantastic chef, cooked for me several times. Accordingly, the kitchen is simply a dream, with everything a gourmet needs to prepare a meal. I was allowed to stay there for almost three weeks. A completely relaxed sit with a day and a half handover and the chance to stay a little longer afterwards. So I was also able to take a trip from here to Porto without having to take all my luggage with me. And it was a great pleasure to look after the very different trio of cats Piet, Cato and Coco. Each of them extremely charming in their own way. All three are very friendly, cuddly and affectionate cats. Well, Piet was a bit jealous at times, but we managed that when I distributed the cuddles very evenly. And when I helped him against his enemy, the macho village cat Carlos, everything was clear. I was his favourite. Well, and then sometimes you just get a bit jealous. And it was really touching to see how he followed me around all day, almost like a dog. And then Cato, what a fluffy cat, and those eyes and that fur. I was laughing tears when Nico explained to me where the name came from. Watch the film 'Pink Panther' and then you'll know. He's just like that, even now, although he's a bit older. It's funny, the name really fits. And I was a bit proud that he let me brush him. Well, to be honest, he brushed himself. I just had to hold out the brush. It was probably better that way, because otherwise he obviously doesn't like being brushed. At least that's what I gathered from Nico's reaction. Coco was a bit more independent with me, but he loved his cuddles just as much. Of course, he would have loved to lick Nico. This behaviour is understandable, because he is an orphan. He was a little ill when I arrived, but everything was fine again during the sit. And then the five chicken ladies. Such beautiful chickens, really proper. And fresh eggs every day. And these eggs are not just for eating, they also provide social contact. That's how I got to know a few of their friends, to whom I regularly brought eggs. Mostly on my tour into town by bike, a real touring bike with lots of gears. It's a good ride. Thank you Els for letting me use your bike. And back a little stop at Café Millennium. A nice rhythm. And well, it's February, so of course it rained more often. I knew that beforehand. But they were generous enough to let me use their car. This meant I could also drive to the nearby markets. When the sun was shining, my favourite thing to do was just sit in the garden and play the ukulele, often with the cats around me. In the evening, the same tomcat idyll in front of the stove. And when it was chilly, I would switch on the electric blanket before going to bed. Els and Nico put me to bed with such care. Thank you so much, I'm always happy to stay with you!

Nico and Els welcomed me with a 5 star even meal, Nico's culinary skills are outstanding! The house is cosy and the garden a beautiful relaxing space. All three cats have completely different personalties and were all wonderful in their own way. The 3 chickens where the same, very different characters. It was a pleasure looking after them all.

Nico and Elsje are very welcoming, I arrived a day early and was pampered with a lovely dinner and also when they returned home. Inbetween everything ran smoothly, they were reachable for questions I had. Their three cats, Coco, Cato and Piet are super sweet and easy to look after. They took turns warming my lap and asking to be pet while I enjoyed a glass of wine by the fireplace in the evening. It was very relaxed to be in their house, it is a quiet place with lots of birds around whose songs I enjoyed sitting in their nice garden. There are beautiful walking routes with great vistas in the area too. All in all it was a real vacation with 3 cudly cats.
