Companion for two small dogs in rural, scenic northwest Connecticut
Introduction
My name is Richard Fox and I live in Bantam, Connecticut. I am 75 years old and moved here in 2022. I have been in the non-profit world for about 30 years - primarily in environmental/ conservation and tribal renewable energy. I bought this 1.65 acre property because it has a lot of land and is surrounded by a LOT of protected forest and wildlife refuge land. On June 22, I need to fly out to Denver and then drive up and attend several major meetings on the Pine Ridge Reservation in in South Dakota and visit family in Colorado. We'll be doing a major program upgrade on our efforts to train Native Americans as solar professionals. Hopefully you will be here enjoying the awesomeness that is my home and property.

My home is surrounded on three sides by forest. It is the next to last house on a very quiet dead end road. The 4,000 acre White Memorial Conservation Area and Wildlife Refuge is just on the other side of that road. The area has lots of wildlife, including deer, owls, turkeys, beavers, a vast array of other birds, an occasional bear, a few coyotes and many other critters that occasionally come visit. I have spent a lot of time cleaning up the property and restoring many old rock edged beds. This spring I added 7 new flowering fruit trees and many shrubs and flowers. I put a deer fence around much of my back yard and some of the side yards, so I can have flowers AND deer! I built a small waterway and pond and the gurgling water refreshes the emotions 24/7. I have a small screened gazebo to make being outdoors comfortable and fun. My home is cozy and pleasant with an open living room/kitchen that overlooks the 1+ acre front yard. There are two bedrooms and an office. I have a part-time crafting area in the back of the house that looks out over the forest land just 30 feet away. The large basement is livable and has more crafting space as well as the laundry area. More broadly, Northwest Connecticut (the Hill Country) is known for all its many small communities. My town - Bantam is pretty small, but it does have a very homey and unique movie theater only a mile away. The area has many great lakes and conservation areas and lots of forest to visit.

Freya and Yuki need to be fed in the morning and evening. I let them out several times a day. There is a fenced area where they can be on there own. If you take them out on a walk, they need to be leashed. No medications necessary, our vet is nearby for emergencies. Please water indoor plants every few days as necessary and outdoor plants if necessary.

Richard was very nice and showed me around his beautiful property. The girls were so easy to take care of and very cuddly and sweet. I saw a fox and a bear while I was there, so cool!!
