Beautiful location in the South of France with two awesome dogs
Introduction
We recently relocated from the US, and now live in a modern house in a small village in the Provence-Alps-Cote d'Azur region of France. Our home is in a very quiet area, but close enough for walks within the village or to get to public transportation. The house is a great landing place if you are looking to explore Southern France, or can provide a nice place for rest and relaxation if you want to stay in the area. We have a pool that will be open in the warmer months, and are within a couple hours drive of many beautiful places in the region. We love our time at home but also love to travel and spend time with our family who live in other parts of the world. We want to make sure our great dogs have someone to stay with them when we have to be gone. We have two dogs, Deacon (12) and May (7) who are both collie mixes. They both love people, playing, and generally getting attention. Our house has two large fenced yards with beautiful views of the mountains, and a pool to enjoy during the warmer months. We are within walking distance to our small town's center where you can access essential shops and public transportation. Our house and the local area are a great place to relax and unwind, while still being close to many attractions within the south of France. The house itself has a great open living area on the main floor, with beautiful outdoor space for relaxing or dining. We have a dedicated guest area off the living room with private bedroom (queen size bed) and bathroom to accommodate our sitters. We are just 15 minutes outside of Manosque, which is home to a beautiful central village, along with great shopping, parks, wineries and more. Our home is also only an hour or two away from many other beautiful beaches, hikes, and cities within France. Beautiful Provençal villages less than an hour away include Sisteron, Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon, and Aix-en-Provence. Within two hours you can get to many beaches and popular cities along the Mediterranean, including Cannes, Nice, Saint Tropez and Toulon just to name a few!

We are looking for someone stay at our house when we are away to feed, walk, and let out our dogs. The dogs each eat twice a day, enjoy at least a quick walk, and love the company of people and want to be near someone at night. While a short walk will suit them just fine, they both love long walks and hikes if you are looking to explore the area and want to take them along. They are good by themselves in the house and can be left alone during the day if needed, up to about seven or eight hours. We have a large fenced yard they can play and run around in, and there are nice trails nearby to walk them on.

I had the pleasure of pet sitting for Mat and Kersti for 5 weeks from mid-April to mid-May. From the moment of our first contact, through the duration of the sit, they couldn’t have been more personable and accommodating. We had a meal together the night before they departed and texted often during my stay. They’re easy going, funny and well organized, which are all things that make sitting for them great. The two dogs, Deacon and May are extremely well behaved and a joy to look after. They love to be around people and just like to hangout with you. They’re perfect on walks and are very happy to see you when you return after a day out. Their feeding and walking schedule is a breeze and overall I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. Mat and Kersti’s house is located in the Alpes de Haute Provence which is a stunning area in eastern Provence. When walking and cycling around the region, one is treated to snow capped mountains around every corner. They are close to the Gorges du Verdun and the Montagne de Lure, as well as many other interesting sites. There are many designated cycling routes around their house as well as plenty of historical villages. My accommodations were great. I had a very comfortable bedroom as well as a large bathroom with a walk in shower. The kitchen was clean and had all the mod cons one could want. The house was bright with floor to ceiling windows and the outside space was perfect for enjoying the sun by the pool. There was also a great area for dining outside when the weather allowed. The neighborhood is residential and extremely quiet. Overall, sitting for Mat and Kersti was perfect. They’re great people who have great dogs and live in a wonderful place. I hope our paths cross again in the not too distant future.

We loved spending time at Kersti and Mats comfortable home and sitting with Deacon and May. Deacon and May are both so well behaved and lovable. Loved playing Frisbee and ball fetch with Deacon, taking them both for walks in the many area parks and nature trails, taking May to a dog days of summer Lansing Lugnuts game, and just hanging and loving each others company. Kersti and Mat were so accomodating and communicative making the sit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. They made sure we had all necessary information and had made everything so easy and the stay very comfortable. Loved time outside on their deck and time spent along the river. The Lansing area is great and the town of Dewitt so nice and convenient. During the sit we enjoyed walking in town, the river, a riverboat trip on the Grand in Lansing, local farm markets, local apple cider mill, and a couple of hour trips out to enjoy MSU birdbanding, and MSU arboretum.. The Lansing/DeWitt area and this dog sit experience was so great!!

I loved my sit with Deacon and May. Kersti made sure I had all the information I need in advance, and had a packet with details to make everything so easy. Deacon and May were so sweet and easy to care for. I was a bit nervous walking two medium sized dogs, but they are incredibly well behaved on their walks! Even if one got excited about a squirrel, they stayed right with me and didn’t pull. Kersti and Mat’s house is clean, organized, and comfortable. The guest bed is very nice — I slept great and was grateful to have sweet dogs cuddling with me.

Allen house and dog sat for us for just over a month while we were away visiting family. He is very organized and had excellent communication both prior to and during our trip. He was thoughtful and asked what kind of communication we liked while away, and then stuck to that, sending us photos and regular updates. Our dogs were absolutely spoiled with attention and twice a day walks so they truly got to have a vacation while we did too. Our house was incredibly clean when we got home and to top it all off Allen had some great recommendations for us for things to see and places to eat (we’re still newer to the area so greatly benefit from his exploration!). We hope Allen and Leslie will be able to sit for us again in the future and would absolutely recommend them to others.
