Southern Dog Hospitality
Introduction
After a career in Corporate America, I decided to take a leap of faith to pursue my passion in working with animals. I now work for the Humane Society of the United States and travel around North Carolina for my job. It is very rewarding to spend my days making the lives of animals better.

We live in Downtown Raleigh. . .a short walk to the NC State Capitol, City Market, Moore Square, Transfer Co. Food Hall and hosts of coffee shops and restaurants. We are right around the corner from one of the trailheads for the Raleigh Greenway. North Carolina State University, Pullen Park and North Hills are a short drive away. The listing indicates you will need a car, but that depends on what you want to do. Most likely, I'll have my car with me, but we live in a very walkable location! If you have a car you will be able to park for free on the street. If I have my car with me, then there is a driveway. The bedroom for guests has a queen size bed and a private bathroom across the hall. I have a Nespresso coffee machine for those of you who enjoy morning espressos and coffee. We are a non-smoking home and prefer to have sitters who are non smokers as well.

Taking care of Norman is the main task. Norman is a 3 year-old beagle who was one of the 4,000 beagles rescued from a Virginia research breeding facility . Norman is still getting used to the world outside a large scale breeding facility but has made major progress since July 2022 and gets more comfortable every day. He wears a GPS collar so we are able to track his location. I live just east of downtown Raleigh, NC. . .within walking distance of great restaurants, greenways and parks. My main concern is the health and well being of Norman. I'm not as concerned about how clean my house is when I return. If my dog is happy, content, healthy and have been cared for and looked after in my absence, then I consider it a successful sit.

Sitting for Gail was hassle-free and convenient for me as I made my way to a series of planned sits in other states. The dogs were easy to care for and all very sweet. The fenced back yard made it easy to let the dogs in and out and to sit outside in the sunshine. I would housesit again any time!

Gail and her dogs were a pleasure to sit for. All dogs were sweet and well behaved. Her house is real cute and close to downtown. If you get a chance to sit for her, you'll be glad you did.

Gail's gang was a joy - very well-behaved, clearly told you when they needed to go out and come in, and for sure, they let you know when it was dinnertime! Her house was comfortable and perfectly located to explore downtown Raleigh.

Alison was an amazing sitter for Norman. She was kind, calm and warm in her interactions. I could tell when I left that Norman would warm up to her and I was right! She left the house in tip top condition including washing the sheets and making the bed. She is an excellent sitter and an amazing human. I'd love to have her back.

Amy was amazing and so attentive to my dogs needs. She took them on individual walks and provided them with all the love and snuggles. She was communicative, kind and even washed and folded all the linens. You and your animals will be so lucky if Amy applies for any of your sits. Thank you, Amy. You helped me to enjoy my weekend away without worry.

This was Tom and Starla's first zeewoi experience and were still getting used to how things work on this platform. They have the potential to be excellent house sitters if you leave clear instructions and set expectations. They were very flexible with this sit, even staying a few extra days when my plans changed. My dogs thoroughly enjoyed their daily walks and I appreciated their tidiness upon my return (they washed the sheets AND made the bed!).
