Caring for pesky Pinschers in southern France!
Introduction
I am retired and living in the Languedoc region of France. I am originally from England but lived in Luxembourg for many years and speak fluent French. I have two small female miniature pinschers called Chipie, 14 years and Omira, 5 years. Chipie and Omira are not used to going into kennels or being apart from me so it seems a good option to have somebody who loves dogs come to my home to take care of them when I am away.. I live in a small village surrounded by vinyards. There are not many facilities or public transport so it is essential for dog-sitters to have their own independant transportation.

The property consists of a large detached and recently renovated stone house and cottage with a pool and garden in a small village in sunny southern France surrounded by vinyards and olive groves. The self-contained cottage and also a studio are both available for the sitters. There is one external security camera. The beach is 40 minutes drive away and there are many beautiful and interesting places to visit around the area. This area is called "Le Minervois" which is renowned for its wine. The main towns around are Narbonne, Beziers and Carcassonne. I do have to add and emphasise that it would be essential to have your own transport as the village is 20 kms from the nearest large town (Narbonne) and there is only one small shop in the village.

Feed and walk dogs...they are small but need fairly long walks. You will need good walking shoes or hiking boots as the ground can be quite rough when walking through the vines and countryside in this area! The dogs are quite shy with people they don't know so you will need a lot of patience! Chipie does need some medication but it just gets added into her food. Other things are just to water plants in garden and keep the swimming pool clean and topped up (I will show you how).

Amazing. This is the word to describe my week in Sainte-Valière. Pamela is an extremely kind woman who knows how to receive. Her house, the outbuilding and the garden are sublime. The dogs had a hard time with his departure: they cried a lot. They needed time to adapt to trust me and for us to share moments of complicity. The surroundings of the city are perfect for walking them. The vineyards, the neighborhood, everything is superb if you like kindness and wide open spaces. You will need to have a car if you want to come and visit Carcassonne, Narbonne and also l'Auberge de la Selette a very good restaurant about 6min from Pamela's house, if you do like good meat. Pamela's friends are just as nice: Andrew, David, Anne-Marie....I didn't have the opportunity to meet Paulette but know that you will be very well looked after during your stay. Pamela was very responsive to messages and left me clear instructions for taking care of the girls. Thanks to Pamela and her dogs Omira and Chipie for trusting me. Ps: Be aware of the mosquitoes!

Pamela has been and excellent house sitter. Her hospitality, simpathy and generosity has make us to feel better than in home. Chipie and Omira are also very good dogs, they are well educated and don't have any problem. At first they are shy, but they adapt very fast and are sweet. The house was better that we expected. It's very beautiful, has all you need and more and all looks new. Also, Pamela has left us coffee, infusions and wine to make our stay even more confortable. This has been our first petsitting and Pamela has sey the bar very hight :) Thanks for all Pamela!

It was a pleasure to take care of Chipie and Omira. Chipie is a little bit more sensitive and it took her some minutes to get relaxed when Pamela lived. Then she was pure love. Omira, younger, was playful and lovely from the very first moment. They are very easy to take care of. Pamela is a very nice person, very kind and helpful. She explained everything clearly and was always available for any information needed. I feel vey grateful for the walks, conversations and dinner shared together. She gave all the love in the world to Chipie and Omira, gave them the best care... And this really touches my heart. The house is very nice, decorated with a very good taste and with love. It is also very well equipped; there's nothing you can miss. It is locate in a very quiet neighbourhood and in a very good spot to explore the region. I higly reccoment the sit. Thank you Pamela!

We had a wonderful stay in Sainte Valière thanks to the presence of Chipie and Mira. These two little dogs are easygoing, adorable and endearing. They gave us a lot of joy and love. It was a real pleasure to take care of them. Pamela's cottage is very comfortable and pleasant as well as her garden. Pamela is a beautiful person who welcomed us with great kindness and sympathy. The region is magnificent with vineyards, olive trees, and panoramic views of the Pyrenees which enchanted our walks with Chipie and Mira. We highly recommend this pet sit! Thank you Pamela for giving us the opportunity to live this great experience.

Welcomed by the dogs barking, they were soon calmed down and played with us. Pamela was very hospitable and offered us dinner together with Andrew. This gave us a lot of time to get to know each other and the dogs. We even sang a Dutch song together. We walked the dogs together in the evening and in the morning. Pamela had everything in perfect order and the instructions were very clear. The house, the garden with swimming pool and the surroundings are beautiful and pleasant to stay in. Pamela was like a friend to us and we hope to return to Sainte-Valière next year to have a 'new' experience. We would highly recommend this place to people who love peace and quiet in this beautiful part of France with cultural-historical cities and the sea a short distance away. Thank you Pamela for everything!
