Catsitting in New England during fall foliage season!

Introduction

Hello! We are Karolina and Eric and we are Mist's (a.k.a Chub's) parents. Chub is a social boy so when we go out of town we like having someone that can spend time with him. Chub has stomatitis but hasn’t shown symptoms in years. He takes some medicine (mixed into his food) every day in the evening and that keeps him happy and healthy. He's a sweet boy who likes the comfort of knowing someone is around even when he's napping.

Home & location

THE TOWNHOUSE We live in a bright two-bed two two-bath townhouse. We have a large TV with multiple streaming services that you can use or you can cast whatever you want from your own device. We have hi-speed wifi and a dedicated work desk in the primary bedroom that you can use. There is a laptop stand with a usb-c cable that will connect your laptop to the monitor. We have an espresso machine and an electric kettle if you want to make coffee or tea. We also have a reverse osmosis water dispenser that you can use. The bathroom is stocked with toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, floss, cotton pads, q-tips, tampons, and pads. If you're staying the night we have a guest bedroom with a new queen mattress and comfy bedding. The AREA Our street is part of the Blue Hills Reservation which has dozens of trails to walk along. You can walk to multiple entrances from our place including a rock climbing area. We have a gold club at the end of the street with a great restaurant (and an amazing view of downtown Boston). We are a 15-minute bike ride to two different stations. Both are stops on the subway so you have easy access to downtown Boston. If you want to go down to Plymouth, MA and hang out on some nice beaches you can hop on the commuter rail from Quincy Center and hop off in Kingston, MA. If you have a car then you are in luck! The townhouse is right off the highway so everything is only minutes away!

Responsibilities

CAT INSTRUCTIONS Chub has a pretty simple daily routine. We typically feed him his breakfast between 7-9am and dinner between 6-8pm. Throughout the day, he will nap wherever you end up. If you work at the desk in the bedroom he might sleep on the bed on the desk, or on the carpet right behind your chair. He will wake up periodically to check on you and then go back to sleep. He has toys everywhere but his favorite toys are the neon furry tails lying around and his purple string. His favorite time to play is an hour or so after eating breakfast and probably an hour or two before dinner. Feeding Instructions: Food is in the fridge and already portioned out. Just dump out the whole container in a bowl and then break it up into small pieces so he can easily eat it (he only has his front teeth and can’t really chew the food so breaking it into smaller chunks makes it a little easier for him). In the evening you’ll need to mix his medicine into his food. You can see details on that in the medication instructions. You can put the containers, bowls, and spoons in the sink or dishwasher and if you run out of spoons, feel free to clean one with the sponge in the sink. Medication Instructions: Mist does require meds only in the evenings. I marked each syringe with a black line to show how much of each medication he will need. I also color-coded the syringes to the medication so you know which syringe goes with which medication. Pink = .75ml Green = .5ml Squirt the medicine into his dinner and then mix it up. He’ll happily eat it all up without hesitation. Litter Instructions: He does have a litter robot that we lovingly call the Poopship. I will make sure that it's emptied so you might go the whole time without emptying it. Just in case it locks up or has an issue there is also a litter box on the top floor. There is a litter trash can next to it where you can put any poos and pees.

A lovely experience. Darling Mr. Chub snuggled his way into my heart. He followed me around the townhouse, played with his string toys and sat on the window ledge to watch the birds. Karolina was friendly, kind and a laid back host. If you have a chance to sit for Karolina, don’t pass it up. I know I won’t.
