Pet Sitter Required for Friendly Labrador Dog
Introduction
We are a family of 4, two boys age 18 and 15 and have a family dog Purdey our black labrador who we would like looking after. Purdey has never been in kennels but very at home with pet sitters. We are looking for someone to come and live in our independent holiday guest suite in the garden and look after Purdey as our old regular sitters are unavailable.

Our house in located in the village of Sharow, about 3/4 mile from the Cathedral city of Ripon. We are about 20 minutes from Harrogate and about 45 minutes from York and Leeds. The coastal town of Saltburn is also only 45 minutes way with a lovely sandy beach. We have the gorgeous National Trust Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks only 15 and 20 minutes respectively away and Newby Hall is only about an 8 minute drive. At the end of the garden of the main house is our immaculate self contained guest suite (Sharow Hall Farmhouse Guest Suite) which we rent out on airb&b. The guest suite is where the pet sitter would live for the stay and in addition we would let you have access to the adjoining games room (table tennis, snooker, darts etc), where Purdey our dog would sleep. The guest suite includes: a double bedroom, ensuite shower room, kitchen with sitting area. It is fully equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, smart TV, wifi, cooker, hob and fridge. We have nice formal gardens with patio furniture available to use and a vegetable garden as well. Occassionally if I have already got an airbnb booking in the guest suite when needing a pet sitter, you would then stay in the main farmhouse in the spare room which is a double bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom. You would use the house farmhouse kitchen etc and also continue to have access to the annex gamesroom as this is not part of the airbnb. You would continue to have access to all the gardens as the airbnb guests do not get access to the gardens. More often than not pet sitters are in the guest suite as I don't do airbnb very commercially and only accept some bookings.

We would require the pet sitter to care for Purdey which involves: giving her a galiprant tablet (which she takes no problem) for her arthristis 1 hour before her breakfast feed (dry food). In the morning Purdey has a walk and then again a short walk after her evening feed (as she likes to do her business in longer grass than in the garden!) Her evening feed (same dry food) is anytime from 4pm onwards. She likes to be fussed and played with but equally happy in her bed, which if sunny she likes to be outside in the garden (all walled and secure). She also has eye gel applied to her left eye morning and night but again this is very easy and takes about 1 min each time and she doesn't fuss. Purdey has started to go partially blind but she has mapped out the house and garden and annex very well, she just needs to be told to step when going for walks if she needs to climb any steps etc, but she is still very easy company and a very chilled dog to look after. In addition we may require some of the plants in the garden watering if its a dry period.

Purdey is a lovely, gentle old lady who still enjoys a good walk. She copes with her recent blindness extremely well and is very comfortable around her home and garden. She was also brilliant on walks in the countryside following our footsteps. Whilst we did keep a watchful eye the walks were still very relaxing for us. So many country walks to choose from including some great National Trust gardens nearby where Purdey was very happy on the lead. She really is the most lovable lady and whilst I called her “old” she is definitely young at heart and very sprightly. The accommodation was super and we were very comfortable. Nicola gave us all the information we required leading to a smooth handover. The village is very close to Ripon and we enjoyed our trips there as well as visits to Thirsk and Harrogate. There is so much more to see in the area if we had had time. We had a car with us but also made use of the local bus service. A very enjoyable housesit with Purdey which we are more than happy to recommend.

Fully enjoyed my time at Nicola’s house and looking after Purdey. The housesit provides you with more than you could possible need with lots of space and amenities. Nicola made sure you were comfortable and was always available if you had any questions. Unfortunately, Purdey has become blind recently but that doesn’t stop her being a friendly and happy dog, who loves some fuss. She needs some medication and she couldn’t have made it any easier for me as she’s well trained and understands verbal cues. 10/10 experience and I’m looking to returning

My husband and I had a great time in Ripon looking after Purdey for a few days, she is a gorgeous example of just how a Black Labrador should be, she is obedient, loving, and lots of fun, as well as having they big brown eyes that could melt the largest iceberg. and she really used them to her advantage to get from you just what she wanted. We were extremely sad at having to say goodbye, (for now) to her. the accommodation we were given in the annex was perfect for us, every mod con we could want, the house and grounds were beautiful, as was the surrounding area, Nicola herself was a wonderful host, writing out all the instructions for Purdey and the house, we much appreciated all that for clarity, we also had great communication with her prior and whilst doing the "sit" she gave us an approximate time when she would be returning, and allowing for traffic on a long journey stuck to that. we would dearly like to return to Ripon and look after Purdey at sometime in the future. Many many thank Nicola for being an excellent host.

Nicola was very welcoming and helpful from the moment we got in touch! Purdey was the most kind, calm-natured dog. She were very well behaved and knew her routine well, making it a breeze to care for her. The house and location were an absolute dream if you're looking for an isolated escape with access to a small town close by. I am very thankful I had this opportunity and would come back in a heartbeat!

We had a lovely warm welcome from Nicola and the accommodation was first class. Purdey was an absolute pleasure to look after. She has a wonderful temperament. She is a character who knows what she wants but quietly lets you know without pestering. We grew fond of this very easy to care for sweet dog. ❤️
