Introduction
Nice to meet you! We are an engaged couple living on Candlewood Lake with our sweet indoor kitty RuPaw. We love to hike, hit the beach and spend time with family. We work in education and real estate. When we travel, we want someone to come stay at our lake cottage that will take excellent care of our baby girl so we can have a good time knowing she’s well taken care of. She’s very sweet, likes a lot of attention and loves to cuddle. As a bonus, we live in a great vacation community that offers a classic Northeast lake vibe.

Charming lake cottage situated on picturesque Candlewood lake. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway in a classic Northeast lake community look no further! Our home has gorgeous lake views with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Fully equipped kitchen, keurig, all traditional appliances including a washer, dryer, dishwasher, comfortable new queen size mattress with down duvet comforter, living room TV with streaming apps, fast wifi and dedicated office for work. We have a large yard with an outdoor sofa, fire pit, and dining table where you can enjoy nights with a lake view. Just a few minute walk from community lake beaches. Our charming home is older but does have window AC units in the summer and traditional heat. The home and furniture are older but comfy and we love it as it offers a cozy cabin feel. The town of New Fairfield is a 5 min drive with supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Danbury is a much larger City with everything you may need and is 15 min away. Within 15 minutes there is a winery, hiking, and you can often find small town live music nearby. Our home does have stairs and you would need a car to get around outside of the lake community which is walkable. Non smoking only. Included pics of our home, the community and the lake. We don’t have a boat or kayak but you’re welcome to use our fishing poles and golf cart (when it’s in operation).

RuPaw needs someone that’s around in the evenings and overnight. She is an indoor cat only so need to be cautious of the doors so she doesn’t get out. She is very affectionate and used to work from home parents. She needs to be fed once in the morning and at night and needs her water dish cleaned and filled and litter scooped daily. She likes to play spring (little toy you just throw) twice a day for a few minutes with someone. Our house will be clean when you stay and we just ask that it be in similar condition when we get back. It’s a quiet neighborhood so looking for someone that will be respectful of our neighbors and our home. She’s very sweet and easy, more just looking for someone to keep her company while we are gone that wants a little lake vacation.

I had a great time hanging out with RuPaw! She was super friendly, snuggly, & easy to care for. Kristi was easy to communicate with. I was always able to reach her, and the couple of times she thought she might be out of reach, she let me know ahead of time. The house was a clean & charming older home in an amazing, friendly, lakeside community with a great view of the lake. While it did rain quite a bit while I was there, I was able to go down to the community beach and take a swim. It was a great place to chill out for a long weekend! I would be happy to come back in the future and definitely recommend the sit!

If I could give RuPaw and her family 100 stars—I would. I absolutely loved my entire stay from beginning to end. Perched on a hill, with sweeping views of a gorgeous lake, is the most wonderful village and cat family. Everything is beautiful—without pretension. The neighbors are friendly, yet allow you to feel at home, with respectful privacy. You feel like you are in the most special place, from another era—where communities naturally trust and support each other. Kristi and her family were so gracious, kind and did everything they could to make me feel welcome—the home is exceptionally clean, nicely decorated, perfectly organized—you have everything you need—in a lovely vintage home. Fresh coffee, cute electric stove, cozy bed—but the best part, by far, is RuPaw’s hilarious personality. She is like a “cat-dog”—will play tag with you, “meow-chat” at times, keep you company when she senses you need a friend, offer you space, if you need to get work done. And as you would expect from a “super-model” Kitty—she likes long hair and often gives you a fabulous cat hug, when you are resting or watching TV. I had so much fun exploring the area, but also simply staying in, resting and marveling at how amazing everything was within the home and neighborhood. Kristi and her family are so nice—attentive, if you need anything—but also make you feel at ease, because they truly want those who visit to enjoy themselves. I truly had the best time and just cannot say enough good things about every aspect of my stay and Rupaw’s totally awesome family.

Sitting for RuPaw was a delight. She is an easygoing, snugly kitty who loves to play. Lots of late night cuddles. Kristi did an excellent job answering all of my questions and having the house manual ready for us. Although we did not get to meet Kristy or John, conversation between us was easy going and very helpful. The house is fabulous. It has everything that you could need for a short or long-term stay. There are some very good restaurants nearby. My stay was in the winter so we only looked at the lake but what a view it is!!
