Two labrador retrievers looking for someone to stay!
Introduction
Hello! My name is Jo and I have two lovely black labradors, Toby and Milo. I also have four children, but they are all grown up now, so I am mostly here just with the dogs. We live in a beautiful part of Somerset with lots of lovely walks right on our doorstep. I know that Toby and Milo are at their happiest when they are in their home and so I very much hope to find someone who would like to enjoy our home and love our dogs when I am away. Since the children have left home, and I am trying to work a little less, I have a little more freedom and I would like to enjoy some time to travel. But I would like to do that happy in the knowledge that Toby and Milo are being well cared for and not anxious with me being away.

We live in a very old Manor Farm House dating back to the 16th century, with a large garden. It is very much a family home and is more comfortable than perfect. If you come in the summer there is an outdoor swimming pool. In the house you will have a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. There is a friendly farmhouse kitchen with an Aga in the winter. But don't worry, there is a conventional oven for the summer time when the Aga is off. There is a comfy and cosy family room with a tv and a woodburner for snuggling up in the evening or wet days, and a sunny garden room when the sun shines. The house has all the usual amenities of washing machines and dishwashers. The house is on the edge of the village and close to Somerton, Glastonbury, Street, Wells, Sherborne and Yeovil. There are lots of national trust houses in the area, and hundreds of places to walk. I love to walk from here to Somerton and back, with a visit to the pub for coffee or lunch as my reward! If you are a shopper, then there is Clarks Village retail outlet or a trip to Bath.

The main responsibility is to ensure that Toby and Milo are happy, and if you are having a good time, are relaxed and enjoying yourself, then they will be happy too. Toby and Milo are early risers and like to go out for a quick visit to the garden. They have two meals a day, and really appreciate one long walk, any time. They are also happy to play in the garden. Toby is particularly fond of retrieving balls! Toby is on Metacam and an anti arthritis tablet every morning. The greenhouse tomatoes would appreciate watering, as would the veg garden if the weather is dry. You are welcome to help yourself to whatever is ready to eat - there are usually lots of courgettes!±

What a wonderful sit. Toby and Milo are such lovely dogs, good as gold at home and on walks, on and off lead. The house, gardens and location are peaceful and stunning and there are beautiful countryside walks right from the door. We met lots of other dogs and Toby and Milo were impeccably behaved so I was able to relax and enjoy watching them run and play together. I was lucky to be there in May when the wisteria was at its best, the garden was bursting into life and the resident barn owl and sparrow hawk were on display. Jo is a lovely host so I would have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending this sit and hope to return one day. Thanks Jo!

Toby and milo are the loveliest, calm and gentle companions! Our stay was a delight and feel very lucky to be able to house sit for Jo, who is so kind and welcoming and her house and surrounding area is beautiful, and cosy :) thank you for having us Jo x

Really felt at home at Jo's house. The dogs are so well behaved and love to cuddle up on the sofa at the end of the day. You can walk straight out of the house to lovely walks and the dogs show the way.

My family and I had a great stay in Jo’s fabulous hours in Charlton Mackrell. We were at the house in July 2023 looking after two dogs, Toby and Milo. The house has all true creature comforts one might desire, and the dogs loved having my two kids around for plenty of play and cuddles. Jo was very easy to deal with, a pleasure. Highly recommend.
