Waterfront home, relaxed setting and Pepe!
Introduction
We are retired and active travelers with a wonderful 5 year old miniature black poodle named Pepe. Pepe is a certified therapy dog who loves people, balls and activity. We enjoy sailing, gardening, walking, birding and playing bridge. We are active as hospice volunteers and with our local church and boating club. Pepe enjoys his yard and home and would rather not board.

Taking care of Pepe was an absolute delight. He's intelligent, affectionate, playful, and attentive when spoken to. Meeting and getting to know Pepe's parents was wonderful; they're a lovely, hospitable couple who made us feel welcomed and at ease. Their house is charming with a delightful garden for Pepe and stunning views. The surrounding area is tranquil, and the people we met were friendly and kind. Every day of our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and we'd gladly care for Pepe again in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed my week at Lucy and Warren’s bright, cheerful home on the water. Views out every window were incredible- blooming hydrangeas and assorted wildflowers in the front- straight out of a Better Homes & Gardens spread, and a gorgeous lake view in the back. Pepe, their dog, was one of the best pups I’ve ever cared for. He knows many commands and is just a delight. Extremely well-behaved and smart, I just loved him. And believe me, he loves nothing more than to chase balls! The shady gravel road to their home is so picturesque, I saw rabbits, deer, even a little turtle - and there was a fabulous osprey nest on the water (and dolphins jumping, which I missed!). It’s dark and quiet at night and my bedroom was very comfortable. Plus, Lucy & Warren couldn’t be nicer- they made me feel very welcome. Wonderful home, people and pup.

This was my first experience with Trusted Housesitters and it was fabulous! Lucy and Warren welcomed me warmly into their home the evening prior to their departure, allowing me to get settled, meet Pepe and get familiar with the house, which is very comfortable and clean in a setting that is truly spectacular. The day they departed, Warren, along with Pepe, showed me the neighborhood and introduced me to their neighbors (human and pup). Lucy made sure I had several of the neighbors’ phone numbers and every one of the neighbors was friendly and welcoming, assuring me they’d be happy to assist if I needed help with anything. I don’t know where to begin, but Pepe is probably the easiest pup I have ever cared for. He is intelligent, personable, playful and a total sweetheart. He loves to play with his various balls and will usually choose the specific one he wants. While there, I worked remotely, and Pepe was also happy to curl up with me when it was apparent I didn’t have time to play. After breakfast, we usually started the day with a paddle in the kayak – Pepe has his own lifejacket and happily hopped right in with me. He also enjoys his walks – and the property and surrounding area is stunning – a tranquil waterfront setting. The area has much to offer if you want to venture out, very cute wineries and shops are about a 30 minute drive. There’s a small country store about a mile away but a proper grocery store will take about 25-30 minutes. The marina adjacent to Lucy & Warren’s property does have a small restaurant, but it wasn’t yet open for the season when I was there. Virginia Beach and Williamsburg are also not too far but I was quite content enjoying the beauty and tranquility of Lucy & Warren’s oasis. If you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful place to spend time with a happy, easy going pup, I can’t recommend this sit highly enough!

We can not say enough about what a joy it was to have Liesel sit. She came with her 12 year old daughter who won Pepe’s heart in the first few minutes by playing with the toy he brought her. Liesel sent almost daily pictures of Pepe and my yard which had just started to bloom. She also took care of my yard, plants and baby blue birds. You would be blessed to have. This family sit for you. Lucy
