Fuzzy black cat looking for a sitter west of Glasgow

Introduction

Hi, we are Jane and Michael and we live on the outskirts of Glasgow with our fuzzy cat Nala. We love to travel but Nala is used to people being around so for breaks longer than a few days we would love for someone to stay with her for company, enjoy the house and surrounding area. We enjoy meeting sitters and find it an easier way to show you round and give you any hints and tips for things you’d like to see and do on your trip. For this trip we are leaving around lunchtime so sitter is welcome to arrive in the morning or stay with us the night before. We will arrive back at night so again, sitter is welcome to leave anytime in the day and just leave food for Nala, or stay overnight depending on what fits best with your plans.

Home & location

Our house is in Jordanhill, which is about 5 miles west of Glasgow city centre and about 3 miles from the West End area of the city. The nearest train station is Scotstounhill. The house is a mid-terrace on a residential street with space for parking at the front if required and a small garden at the back which is a sun trap in the afternoon and evening, on the rare days Glasgow gets sun! There is a spare double room at the back of the property for sitters with a double bed, wardrobe and drawers. There are two different bus routes a 3-5 minute walk away, and Scotstounhill train station is 8 minutes walk away, with frequent trains direct into Glasgow City Centre, a journey of 15 minutes. In the other direction the train goes out to Balloch, at the bottom of beautiful Loch Lomond. There is a small park a 10-15 minute walk away, a couple of restaurants and a pub a 20 minute walk away.

Responsibilities

Nala is an easy cat to look after, she is fairly independent and she can be left for relatively long periods to allow sitters to explore the area. She is fed in the morning and the cat flap opened for her to get out during the day. She is then fed again in the evening and the cat flap turned so that the next time she comes in she cannot go back out again. Nala is a shy girl with strangers but she can be brought out of her shell with some play. She can occasionally be a little impatient with wanting to play and will on the odd occasion grab at a leg, so sitters should watch for over enthusiastic leg rubbing or the head tilt! Nala is also a hunter so it is possible that a sitter would be required to deal with a “present”, in varying states of alive-ness. No medication is required and no plants will need watered. **Please note that Nala, and my home, are not child-friendly so I would respectfully request adult sitters only**

Wow! What a pleasure it was to house sit for Jane and Michael and look after the cool cat that is Nala! Jane and Michael were incredibly kind during our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them the night before they went away and the morning they got back! They went to great lengths to make us feel comfortable and at home. They picked us up and dropped us to our transport, to and from Glasgow, and even set us up with some Scottish themed goodies (loved the Glaswegin!!) and groceries. The instructions for caring for Nala they gave us were clear and easy to follow, and they gave us lots of tips and information to help us make the most of our time in Glasgow. Looking after Nala was a breeze, she was largely an independent cat and spent most of her time out and exploring, but when indoors we enjoyed some pats and play time with her which made us feel more at home. Jane and Michaels home was lovely and pristine, an easy 5-10 minute walk from buses and trains headed into Glasgow city centre, west end and nearby towns which made it easy to explore during our time. Overall it was an 11/10 house sit and we couldn’t have asked for better. Thank you again Jane, Michael and Nala for your hospitality and we hope to see you guys again next time we are in Glasgow!

What a lovely house-sit! Jane & Michael couldn't be kinder or more accommodating; from collecting me from the airport to having some groceries in the fridge for me, I felt so at home and looked after before, during, and after my trip. Communication was top-tier and very responsive, and their home is absolutely beautiful; so comfortable and clean with a fantastic home office which was ideal for working from home. Nala is a really easy cat to look after- she is very independent and enjoys her outdoor time, but became quite affectionate after we bonded and liked chilling out with me in the evenings and nighttime, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this house sit for other travellers, and would come back to look after Nala in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for having me, guys, it was a pleasure!
