Excellent and easy location for dog walking and local attractions.

Introduction

Hi, we are a family of 3 who all love and adore our black lab Bramble who is 3.5 years old. We live in Woking and have Horsell Common, the canal and the town centre (with cinema, theatre and shops) on our doorstep. London is half an hour away by train. We would like to find trusted house and dog sitters when we go away on holiday so that Bramble can stay at home and be looked after and walked twice a day as we would usually do ourselves. She is well trained and very easy to look after. Our vet is less than 1 mile away. We would like someone to care for Bramble as we do in our absence.

Home & location

Our home is set back from the road and has a private, enclosed garden at the back. We have quiet neighbours and wonderful views to both front (the Wheatsheaf Common) and back (tall trees in large back gardens). We are a 4 bedroom house and you will stay in our spare room, which is at the back of the house, so no road noise, and has a very comfortable king size bed. Our large family bathroom has a separate shower and freestanding bath. We have a useful utility and a hose pipe right outside to wash the dog. Lots of dog towels and all her food and treats are kept here, alongside a Sheila Maid (clothes airer), washer and tumble dryer, and the usual cleaning products/hoover. You can walk for miles in the woods on Horsell Common from our doorstep, even though you have to cross a few roads. Bramble is excellent at obedience and is used to waiting to have her lead put on and taken off. The canal is also on our doorstep and lies between our house and the town centre. You can walk/run to St John's village on the canal and visit the cafe and shop (2 Ducks) there. Woking town centre is a 5 minute walk and has cinema, theatre (lots of West End shows begin here), art gallery (the Lightbox), bowling, shopping, restaurants, markets, an award-winning wine bar (Cellar Magnifique) and more. Locally, you can visit numerous attractions such as Wisley RHS, Hatchlands, Clandon Park, Loseley House, Watts Gallery, Guildford (a 10 min train ride), Painshill Park, Leith Hill House/Box Hill and more! Eastwood Leisure Centre has a lovely pool with steam and sauna facilities, and can be accessed via car (10 mins) or directly along the canal. You are free to use my large Specialized bike (in the garage), but please treat it as you would your own and lock it securely and appropriately when out and about. Horsell village, with cafes, a local co-op, post office, excellent butchers, wine bar, the Red Lion pub (highly recommened Gastro-pub) and the Beijing chinese restaurant, is also a short stroll (less than a mile) through woods, narrow paths and leafy, quiet roads. London is half an hour by train (Woking - Waterloo direct). This is an absolutely key location for all your holiday needs, whatever your tastes and preferences.

Responsibilities

Look after the dog and the house! Walk and feed the dog twice a day. Breakfast usually 7-7.30am, first walk usually 8-9am. Afternoon walk usually 1.30pm. Tea usually 3pm. In the hotter months the walk can be longer and earlier in the morning, and later and shorter at around 6pm. Water the garden and hanging baskets regularly in the hottest months. Bramble loves to swim. She never drinks enough water and prefers to drink water from muddy puddles or the hose! We give her dry hypoallergenic food (she is an itchy dog) with quite a lot of water.

Bramble's family home was immaculately clean and tidy and made for a very comfortable stay. It's very well placed for shops, cafes etc including great dog walks on the doorstep. Bramble was very sweet and affectionate. She immediately bonded well with us and our dog, Belka. She has a very structured routine that she'll remind you of! Overall a lovely, straightforward sit with a sweet, laid back dog.

Amy, Stuart and Sophia were all lovely and very accommodating, even though this was there first time with an unknown sitter. The house was lovely and comfortable with shops within walking distance. There were so many beautiful and different walks to choose, from wooded fields to trails along the canals. I didn't have a car when I was there but didn't feel as though I needed one. If I needed to go further a field I had use of a bike(I went on a number of bike rides)bus stop out the front of the house and train about 10 minutes walk. And Bramble... she is a gorgeous, gentle doggo who warmed up to me very quickly. She's a fantastic dog to walk, mostly obedient 😆and is so calm and sweet. She was my shadow. Feeding and meds were no issue. I highly recommend this sit if you're lucky enough to get the opportunity
