Charming rural village life.
Introduction
Hello! George and I are retired and love the quiet, natural surroundings of where we live. Our sweet dog and flock of guinea fowl seem to enjoy our three acre garden as much as we do. We travel on occasion because we have family other states and countries.

We live on a creek that joins the Rappahannock River as it makes its way into the Chesapeake Bay. Our large garden ensures lots of critter activity: morning birdsong; busy squirrels; foraging geese; herons; deer and the odd turtle. However, we are actually located in town, within easy walking distance of the village center with its restaurants and shops. Five miles up the road from us, the town of Kilmarnock offers many services such as: cinemas, dry-cleaning, grocery stores, library and a varied assortment of shops. Our house was built in 1848 and has the charm of an old house but it has undergone extensive renovation and sports a large, modern kitchen, eating porch, central air-conditioning and excellent wifi. Your upstairs bedroom has a lovely view of the lawn as it sweeps down to the water and the dock. An office area is attached to the bedroom and you have a choice of bathrooms: a small, en suite one and a larger one down the passage. There are many walking trails in the area, biking is popular and we have kayaks for exploring the creeks.

Beautiful home, lovely people. And Koekie is the sweetest, most well-behaved girl. Really, enjoyed this sit.

What an amazing sit we had at George and Danielle's home. Their house is gorgeous and their home is peaceful. We arrived the night before the sit and the Kuper's had a meal prepared for us after a long day of traveling. George and Danielle are the epitome of kind and warm people. We felt right at home and at ease the moment we arrived. Their small quaint town was a breath of fresh air. And how about Koekie. Such a treat to care for an amazing dog. She is the sweetest thing who got along perfectly with our senior dog. Very smart and fun to run and play with. Our senior dog doesn't do much playing, but Koekie got him out and running. We can't say enough nice things about George, Danielle, and Koekie. We would come back and sit for them anytime. We are already missing Koekie. Thank you for an incredible month in your home!

George and Danielle are by far the definition of hospitality! We felt welcomed by the three of them immediately, from the beginning of our stay until the very end. We were greeted with lunch followed by supper, which made for a delightful evening. We enjoyed their company and had such great conversations. Koekie is so much fun and loves to be chased. She is very gentle, intelligent, great off leash and gets along with all dogs. We were even allowed to sit with our own fur baby. Both Koekie and Bear got along wonderfully. She slept with us and followed us everywhere we went. I have to say it was very hard having to leave her. George and Danielle also made sure we were well versed in how to care for the Guinea fowl, making it an even smoother transition. Their home is truly spectacular with tons of beautiful spaces to spend your days in inside and outside! They live in such a wonderful area with plenty of trails, restaurants and things to do. But we spent most of ours days enjoying the property and all it has to offer! We would love to care for Koekie and their home anytime!

George
Before meeting Travis and Shannon, their communication was great and we were comfortable that they would be a good fit for our dog and our guinea fowl. We were not disappointed! We returned after a month away to find our house clean and tidy and a relaxed, happy, healthy dog. Travis and Shannon are competent, calm and organized and are clearly animal lovers. Your pets and house will be in good hands with them!
