Very well trained, lovable Labrador looking for a sitter to share his home with
Introduction
My name is Charles and I live with my wife Lea-Anne in Ettingen Switzerland. We have a very well behaved 7 year old Labrador (Lea-Anne is a dog trainer). We are Canadians that have lived in Switzerland for 12 years. We love to hike with our dog and have explored every corner of this beautiful country. We love to travel but there are times when it's not possible to take our dog with us, e.g. when we visit our children and family in Canada.

We live in a row of townhouses on a private very quiet street. We have a small backyard that looks out to forests. There are hiking trails through forest or beautiful farm land walking paths that are just a short 5 minute walk away. There is a tram that will take you to the heart of Basel city in 20 minutes. Our house has 4 floors with all amenities. There are 2 bedrooms for a sitter to choose from. Parking is available for a sitter. Non-Smoking house both inside and out. There is a beautiful castle ruins over the border in France called Lanskron - just 15 minutes from our house. Great views of Basel Stadt, Jura and Blackforest DE. Basel is known for museums, the old town and Rhine river is beautiful. Christmas market is spectacular.

We take our dog Leo for a 45 minute walk first thing in the morning between 7-8 a.m. He plays fetch off leash in the fields just 5 min walk away. He could be put on a "long line" if sitter feels more comfortable. Walked to and from the fields on short leash. Back home he is fed and then rests for several hours. He is put out in the backyard mid day for a potty/pee break. He has a walk in the afternoon that lasts from 1 to 2 hours depending on the weather. Rainy days the afternoon walk may be shorter. He enjoys a frozen food stuffed kong some afternoons. We require that he is walked 2x a day for at least 45 minutes each time. His dinner time is between 5:30 and 6:30. Leo can be left at home unattended for 4-6 hours and if needed our friend next door can look in on him. Leo does not need meds. A few house plants and outdoor flowers will need to be watered 1-2x a week. Outdoor plants depending on weather. Garbage needs to be put out on Tuesday morning. We would like the sitter to speak english so there is no communication issues. Being able to speak German or French would be a bonus. We are very friendly with all of our neighbours who also know Leo well. Our dog is very well trained and knows many tricks and "commands". Recall is excellent. He has been trained by Lea-Anne who follows professional trainers who believe in Positive reinforcement and teaching through games ie Susan Garrett. We would expect that the sitters keep our home clean and tidy and in a similar condition as when we left it for them.

My sit was amazing. Lea-Anne and Chuck wonderful people. I felt their involvement and desire to make my sit great. They were always in touch. I am very grateful. Leo… There's not enough space to tell about Leo, he's a very good boy. Obedient. Beautiful. Cute. He is very well trained. He even did what I was just going to ask. For example, we are walking and a cyclist is riding in the distance. If he saw it before I did, he just goes and stands next to me and waits for the cyclist to pass. It gaves me a lot of peace and trust. Maybe I'm not as well-mannered as Leo 😂😂😂

We had a great time with Leo. He is very well trained, affectionate and easy to take care of. If you take him on two good walks - which are beautiful in the fields or the forest very near by the way - he will be sleeping or chilling on his own the rest of the day, but also has enough energy to play and cuddle as much as you want to ;) Next to the nature there is also Basel that's pretty to explore and easy to get to. Lea-Anne and Chuck are very helpful hosts. You get all the informations you need before you arrive, videos of walks/commands and also of the household appliances for example. Their house is nice and grocery shopping is in walking distance. All of that made our stay very easy. We would recommend to everyone to apply for looking after Leo in Switzerland.

Leo is such a cuddly affectionate dog🥰 It was a joy to care for him. The area is within the Swiss hillside, so walking was incredibly refreshing as well. Leo is trained exceptionally well, so even with me being a stranger he was brilliant with understanding specific commands ["foos/füs", for example]. Charles/Chuck and Lea-Anne were very informative. They showed me images & videos of some of Leo's walks, some friendly+some neutral dogs, how to use house appliances; they also gave me very thorough instructions to the point that by the time I arrived I felt at ease —the kind that only comes with feeling tangibly familiar with a task. Overall, they were excellent hosts. Very friendly and very approachable throughout my sit. I'm grateful to have connected with them, and Leo's cuddles+daily walk adventures are such precious memories. Thank you.

Charles and Lea-Anne are the best hosts you can get, and their dog Leo is quite possibly the best dog in the whole Switzerland :) Lea-Anne is an incredible dog trainer so Leo is superbly well trained. They provided me with a very detailed guide and all the necessary info, and also were always available via whatsapp if I had any questions about Leo or the house. Their neighbour was also at hand to help. It was my first ever 'job' via this website and it could not have gone any better. I had the most fantastic time with Leo (thanks to Lea-Anne's training; if you need a dog trainer in Switzerland, you should book her pronto!) and I miss him dearly. Thank you for everything, I hope I get to visit them again soon!
