Introduction
Retired Airline Captain wishes to find some animal lovers prepared to look after my two dogs while I take a two week's break.

Cosy stone cottage situated a mile outside Blairgowrie. In beautiful Perthshire just on the edge of the Highlands. Central heating and wood-burning stove. Rural location but friendly neighbours within shouting distance. Tescos and good selection of shops and restaurants about five minutes drive and Perth and Dundee are about half an hour away. Note that the garden has a couple of ponds so it may not be suitable for very young children.
Show more...Responsibilities
Take care of the pets and don't burn the house down! The dogs are both used to at least 30 mins exercise a day. They normally sleep in their own beds outside the bedroom but Freddy was initially unhappy on a previous housesit but settled down ok when allowed to sleep in the bedroom. Freddy is a German pointer and quite big and strong although gentle. Lilly is a very cute little terrier type.

Freddy was initially very nervous with separation anxiety. After a few days, with some patience, reassurance and guidance, he re adjusted and settled in well. Both he and lilly are incredibly affectionate dogs who clearly enjoy human company. This sit would suit 2 people, Freddy is a strong dog so needs a firm handler. Both dogs have trackers so they can go off lead, although we preferred to walk them on lead for safety reasons. They are great fun and welcomed our Sharpei very well. We all made a lovely bond with them. Thanks to Barry's generosity, there was plenty of wood for the log burner. The garden is beautiful and although it's a rural area, it's still close to the shops via car. There are friendly neighbours nearby too. We had the best autumal display , spectacular infact! Barry recommended places to eat, walks to go on with the dogs. We saw a beautiful waterfall and the river walk in Blairgowrie is worth a visit. Blairgowrie is a sweet town, with plenty of amenities , a weekend market, cafés & pubs. A wonderful and memorable stay, hard work, yet rewarding.

What a fantastic way to spend Christmas in Scotland. Barry and Gilly welcomed us to their beautiful stone cottage with amazing views. Great hosts who provided a delicious dinner the night we arrived and day before they left. The two dogs, Freddy and Jack, were really friendly and loved long walks and runs in the fields and on the hills surrounding us, and the chicken would come right up to the kitchen side door to say hello. Evenings were spent with the dogs in front of the wood burning stove. We could not have asked for more and feel we have made long term human and canine friends. Just a great experience. Thank you, Gilly and Barry.

We really enjoyed looking after Archie and Freddy and The Chicken! The house came stocked with everything we could need, and with recommendations from Barry and Gilly as to where to go and what to do, locally, we made the most of our long weekend in Blairgowrie.
