Northern Michigan beasties, 3 of them are looking for a sitter in July!
Introduction
Hello, I’m Laura, we have a very busy household. We have two silly pits and one cat . We frequently take 2 to 3 day excursions. My animals are used to a lot of attention, and one of them is a rescue and sometimes nervous. I’ve been told my cat is the alpha

We have a quite country setting, Maple Ridge Riding Stables are across the road from us. They offer lessons and guided rides. We are 5 miles from Wolverine, beautiful park and walking trails along the river, canoe and tube rentals. Five miles in the opposite direction is Vanderbilt, another pretty little town, both here and Wolverine offer restaurants and bars. Twenty minutes from Gaylord where they have everything. We are so close to the Mackinac Bridge, 35 miles, from there it’s a ferry ride to Mackinac Island . Our home has Starlink internet so no worries staying connected. We are doing some remodeling so things aren’t in their finished state but still lovely and very functional. House sitters have their own room to stay and have their own space . We do have a garage you can use while sitting. The animals have their own room for sleeping.Even though we are in a lovely country setting there are a few very fun places to eat and hang out. There’s a large fire pit in our large backyard. We are on the edge of the woods. It’s quite lovely.
Show more...Responsibilities
An overview of responsibilities would start with when they wake up. They should go outside as soon as they start walking around. Jilli is a rescue and it has taken a long time to train her. She needs consistency. Jilli and Jack get fed at 8am, 2pm and 7 pm. Flick is also fed at these times. Jack and Jilli have a very nice pen and they do enjoy outside time a lot. The walking time per pet refers to pen time where they can run. Unfortunately they have poor manners for walking and Jack will bolt. All the animals sleep in the laundry room with the door closed. They are not allowed on the couch but the chair and foot stool are ok. The dogs like to be covered with a blanket when they go to bed at night. They get wiped down and brushed last thing before bed. They are happy and fun.

I had such a wonderful time with Jilli, Jack, Sugar and Flick. They are unique individuals with different personalities and it was so fun getting to know each one of them. Jilly is 100% pure energy and runs "zoomies" around the side yard to release some of that energy. Jack is a lover and wants to be with you constantly. Sugar is a sweet baby and will curl up in your arms, purring constantly. Flick just watches the other three with detached amusement. Laura's home is very clean and comfortable .... and located in that beautiful Michigan setting. The side yard is fully fenced and available for the two pups to run around in during the day. Flick and Sugar will come in and out during the day and sit patiently at the back door waiting for you to let them in. Laura was a great communicator and so easy going and welcoming. She left complete instructions for everyone's feeding and night time routines. She responds immediately to all text messages. I highly recommend this sit if you are lucky enough to be selected.

Up in the northern part of Michigan you can find a tiny piece of my heart nestled in Laura's home. She may not have completed her renovations when we were there but she has created a space that is loving and tranquil. Jack and Jill are the sweetest Pitties. Jill is a handful in all the right ways. Jack is just a love bug. Throw in two of the coolest cats and you have the perfect space for a wonderful experience. Flick and Sugar are everything written about them. When they warm up they are so sweet, and cuddly. They have a grand time hunting in the yard but come in when called, I mean it they come running! Flick loves to mess with Jilly, and vice versa. They will keep you laughing. Laura is everything you'd want in a host. She is very honest in her description, she knows the quirks of her babies and we had no surprises. She is very easy to communicate with and quick to respond to questions. We were able to work remote during the day, her Satellite wifi is top notch. The area is full of surprises. We did evening escapades to Mackinaw City and Peloskey, both about about 30 minutes away. Downtown Gaylord is much closer and is a treasure. If you want a peaceful escape and a fantastic area to explore, this is your place!

I had such a great time house and pet sitting for Laura! She has a very nice place right in the middle of nature - it was honestly such a cathartic experience. Her animals are so sweet and friendly and love to play. Her dogs, Jack and Jill, are endless entertainment and will give you all the love in the world if you let them. Her cats are also very affectionate and very easy to take care of. If you get a chance to pet sit for Laura, do not miss out!

We enjoyed our sit for Laura and her brother Brody, which was our first to include caring for dogs. The pets warmed up to us quickly and kept us busy, and we fell in love with each of their personalities! Jackson and Jillian are sweet and active dogs who want to play alot but also to sit on your lap at movie time! They are well trained to go into their crates after being outside, and to go to their sleeping room at night. They go out to their pen directly from the attached garage which is so convenient. Giving meds in a dollop of peanut butter was a breeze! The cats Flick and Sugar are both vocal, which we loved, and make their needs easily known. They are also well trained to sleep in their carriers at night. It was fun to watch Flick on his backyard adventures, and Sugar will melt your heart with her snuggles when you hold her!! As Laura notes in her listing, she is currently renovating the house but we were quite comfortable in her cozy home in the quiet countryside! It was a treat to prepare meals with her beautiful new gas range, and to sit at the table overlooking the lovely view of the back of her property. We were there during cold weather and utilized the woodburning stove, which for us was a bonus. The house is easy to get to from Interstate 75, which also makes it convenient to explore Burt Lake and Mullett Lake areas, as well as the town of Indian River. It's a quick drive to the "alpine village" of Gaylord, where you will find anything you need. There are so many beautiful natural areas close by, including Pigeon River Country State Forest, the Sturgeon river, and several DNR elk viewing sites. Cyclists and hikers will also have very easy access to the North Central State Trail. We recommend at least one meal at The Thirsty Sturgeon in Wolverine! Laura was communicative before the sit and was quick to respond to questions while we were there. She is a lovely person and we feel we made a friend!

Laura
Jennifer and Dan were amazing. My house is full of pets. 2 silly pits and 2 cats. My dogs both take medication, one has allergies and the other anxiety. To top it off the one with anxiety is a puppy. Jennifer and Dan were patient and loving towards all the fur babies. I think my pets miss them. They sent pictures and updates almost daily. The animals clearly miss them. Jilli lays her head where Dan used to sit and play daily ❤️Jennifer let my boy pit be a lap dog 😊❤️ my house was neat and tidy, their personalities are loving and kind. I am a fan! I hope to have them return as I think my pets would love to see them again.
