Sitter needed for a multi-cat household in small town near Nürnberg, Germany.
Introduction
I am a 60 year old woman currently teaching in an international school in Bavaria, Germany. I am British and have lived in Germany for more than 20 years. I like nature and the outdoors and also exploring towns and cities with sites of interest. I have two grown-up children and they both now live and work in England. Our family pets are 3 cats. They are 9 year old siblings who were rescued when they were around 4 months old. One of them has recently diagnosed with diabetes and so I now need a pet sitter committed to giving her insulin injections 2 times a day.

This 3/4 bedroom semi-detached house is situated on the edge of the small town of Herzogenaurach and is just 50 metres from one of towns woods, with several walking loops. The house is on 4 levels (stairs with railings) and is partly open plan. There are entrances, one on the basement/ground floor level and one up a flight of steps to the first floor. There is one main bedroom with en-suite bathroom plus 2 small single bedrooms. In addition, there is a sofa-bed in one of the basement storage rooms and a small futon in the attic, which is an open space at the top of the stairs. There is one bathroom with a bath (en-suite), two shower rooms and 4 toilets. There washing machine, tumble dryer and small freezer in one if the basement rooms. It is a short 5 minute walk to a supermarket and less than 15 minutes into the town centre with the two towers, old buildings, restaurants, cafes, eiscafes, shops and museum. Herzogenaurach is home to sport companies adidas and Puma and both have outlet shops. There is also “Atlantis” leisure pool open all year and an outdoor pool open May-September. The picturesque and historic cities of Nürnberg and Bamberg are around 30 minutes drive away.
Show more...Responsibilities
Caring for 3 cats - food, water, and clearing litter trays (currently 4 trays). Administer insulin injection to diabetic cat twice a day (inject under skin) insulin Injections after food approximately 12 hours apart. Feeding 3 cats wet food twice a day around 7am and 7pm (vet said this could vary by a hour). As mentioned above, one cat requires an insulin injection twice a day immediately after eating. I currently give a small amount of wet food around 4-5 hours after evening injection. All three cats are used to spending time inside and outside but there are no cat flaps so they need to be let in and out. When I have gone away in the past, before Ed’s diabetes diagnosis, the cats were kept inside and someone would come in once a day to feed etc. There are a few house plants that may require watering if I’m away over 7 days.

Gail is absolutely wonderful. Her cats are very shy, so it took a few days for them to warm up to us, but they are very sweet. Her house is in the perfect place. It is walking distance from the grocery store, the bus, town, hiking, swimming. It is absolutely idyllic. We were very grateful to make this wonderful connection.

Gail is a super nice and kind person, she welcomed us very warmly! The town is very cozy and cute. Cats were friendly, there was a problem with Ed's meds, but we worked it out with Gail! We are grateful for the opportunity to stay with Gail and interact with her cats🫶🏼
