Omi the Cat Prefers to Stay at Home
Introduction
Doug and I moved from Los Angeles to Santa Fe in mid 2000. We have a film distribution company and also published a souvenir book to celebrate 40 years of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. I am the Executive Director of Felines & Friends New Mexico, which celebrated 20 years of rescue and placement in 2022. Omi joined our family in February. Having lived on the streets of Santa Fe for several years, he prefers to remain at home when we travel. Our ideal sitter is a mature person or couple with experience caring for a beloved pet and a beautifully maintained home.

Our home is approximately 2,700 sq.ft and 'smoke free'. The guest bedroom has a queen bed and it’s own bathroom with shower/tub. The master suite has a California King bed with memory foam mattress. There is a spacious walk-in shower and soaking tub. There is high definition television in the media room as well as all bedrooms and kitchen. Dish Network, Netflix and Amazon are available. Access to Sonos speakers in living room. The house sits in the middle of 2 1/2 acres. Roads are paved, but the driveway is a few hundred feet of decorative gravel. Views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range are spectacular. You will absolutely need your own vehicle as there is no public transport out our way, even though we are only 12 miles to downtown. The closest grocery store is Market Street which is 4.5 miles from the house. There are many places to walk and hike nearby. Santa Fe is full of great restaurants and we can provide a list with a map. We also have a lovely piano and a 12-string guitar that house sitters are welcome to play.

Omi is energetic and very interactive once he knows a person. Daily playtime is essential - we play with him morning and evening. Omi truly believes in the saying "dogs have owners and cats have staff". If we are home, he announces when he has used his litter box and wishes for it to be scooped; otherwise it needs to be scooped twice a day. We would also ask that a few plants are watered per a schedule. During winter months, snow needs to be cleared from walkway to front door and cement apron outside the garages. We ask that sitters are able to communicate with us via FaceTime or WhatsApp. We prefer mature sitters with at least 8 to 10 reviews and within the last 12 months.

I had a great two weeks with Omi in Doug & Bobbi's wonderful art-filled home. Omi and I bonded quickly, he's such a great remote work companion and I loved purry lap time with him at coffee and settling in for the evening. Had a great time getting to know Doug and Bobbi through good communication pre-sit and then on the night before they left with the walk-through and a great dinner out. I also appreciated getting museum passes and some info on their favorite Santa Fe spots. Omi has easy routines, including an easy to keep up litterbox. I'd definitely return if our plans cross again!

It was an absolute pleasure staying with Omi! He is the sweetest kitty with such a fun personality. We had a great time together. Bobbi and Doug were such a courteous and lovely couple; they left detailed instructions and we stayed in contact throughout my stay. I would sit for them again at their beautiful home in Santa Fe in a heartbeat!

Omi was a delight to pet sit. He was social and friendly. He liked to be pet a lot, purred a lot. I really enjoyed spending time with him. Bobbi and Doug's home is lovely and peaceful with a nice outdoor sitting area. It is about 15 minutes drive into Santa Fe for groceries or other amenities. As requested I arrived a day early. Bobbi and Doug took me to a lovely dinner at an African themed restaurant. They left a detailed 11 page single space guide for Omi and the home in case there were questions about anything. For future per sitters, I recommend asking early in communications if there is an expectation to sign a 3 page pet sitting contract. I was very surprised to be presented with one at the last minute - which was a first for me on THS. Overall, I recommend the pet sit.

I literally fell in love with Omi on the very first day. He is such a sweet, loving kitty. He loves to cuddle in your lap and is quite talkative and playful. I enjoyed having him as my companion for my month long stay. He really is great company! The home is clean, spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The location was perfect- quiet and peaceful with beautiful views, yet convenient to exploring all Santa Fe has to offer. I would gladly return. Bobbi and Doug are an awesome couple and I felt at ease with them and in their home. I highly recommend this sit!

Siana took wonderful care of both Omi and our home. We returned to a very happy and healthy cat and can't thank Siana enough. We would certainly invite her back and highly recommend her as a petsitter.
