Victorian modernised house in Somerton
Introduction
My husband and I have moved to Somerton in Somerset. We have a Jack Russell Cross called Billy who is 13, a real cuddle monster and fanatical about balls. We also have Alfie who is 2 year old Border Terrier and is Billys shadow. Our house was built in 1870 but has been modernised by previous owners so easy up keep. There is a large workshop/garage/utility and a brick shed at the end of a large flat garden. Its an easy garden to maintain mostly lawn and a small flower bed near the house. We hardly ever see our neighbours and its a very quiet setting. We have a garage/shop 500 yards away and plenty of great walks and pubs nearby. We have both been working from home since March 2020 and postponed planned trips several times over like everyone else! We go abroad at xmas every other year or so. This is a recent idea of ours and love it. We have several trips and long weekends planned and need folk that will look after our beloved pets as they were their own and care for our house.

West Lydford, Somerton in Somerset is a very quiet area with just a handful of houses. A great pub across the road selling good food and known for its music evenings. A small garage/supermarket 500 yards from the house. Close to Glastonbury (15 minutes) and great shopping at Street outlet centre

The boys needs only 1 walk a day but would never complain with more and to be fed morning and evening. They will eat anything you give them so if you want to give him treats please only use dog treats or carrots and peppers. Billy is a greedy boy so needs to be watched. He has an issue with long vision so just need to be aware of that and I think he has selective hearing! He has a little arthritis in his shoulder. Alfie will walk all day long but doesn't like to be away from Billy for too long so best to walk just once a day together. They are both used to sleeping on or under our bed we don't mind if you'd rather not let them on the bed with you. They are allowed on furniture. Please always keep the side gate shut before opening main gates as they will run out. Please always keep them on the lead. In Somerset they prefer dogs on the leads at all times. If you go out please close bedroom and lounge doors and put the radio on. Also close the dog flap so they cannot get out. They tend to bark at next doors dogs and they all go off!

Debbie and Graeme were the PERFECT hosts! From all prearrival comms to arriving at their home I felt like I was visiting friends. I was made to feel so welcome, they’d prepared everything for me and I settled in straight away. The house is beautiful, so comfortable and stylish. And the dogs, I fell in love instantly! They’re easy to care for, cuddly (if you want them to!) and have lovely characters. Thank you to humans and dogs for a gorgeous time.

Debbie & Graeme invited us to look after their home and pets, we kept in touch right up to the day the sit commenced. We were welcomed into their lovely home and Graeme showed Alan all the things he needed to know whilst Debbie and I talked as though we had known each other years, I was made to feel relaxed and at home. Billy is the most adorable dog you could wish to meet. Both Alan and I took to him straight away and we can honestly say we didn’t want to leave him when the time came. He is the most gentle and kind dog we have ever met, a credit to his owners. Jet, Flo & Blow (hens) were no trouble at all and we enjoyed fresh eggs every day, thank you. Walking Billy was a joy, he showed me every where in both West Lydford, East Lydford and around the area. He loved playing ball and traveling in the car. He was a delight to be with. We can definitely recommend this sit. Thanks for trusting us with your lovely home and pets.

I thought I had left feedback ages ago, but it has mysteriously disappeared. I loved this house-sit. Debbie and her husband were extremely welcoming and friendly. Pre-sit information was great and I found my way around the house and neighbourhood with ease. Billy was a great companion and we had great fun on our daily walks. He tirelessly fetched his ball in the garden and liked to snuggle up in the evenings. I went everywhere by bike during my stay here and found some interesting on and off-road routes. Thank you, Debbie, for a great sit.
