Looking after Bertie in our comfortable home in a village near Bamberg.
Introduction
Hi, my name is Linda. I‘m from England and my husband, Michael is from North Germany. We sadly lost our old cat called Frisbee in January this year and although we miss him dearly the house did not seem a home without a kiity! Now we have a very lively and energetic kitten called, Bertie. Bertie is 4 months old and although he has had his vaccinations, he has not yet been castrated or microchipped. this will happen at 6 months old. Bertie absoulutely must be kept in the house!! He is very fast! So when you are going outside care must be taken to keep him in the living room. He’s a little shy at first, but friendly and very playful once he gets to know you. He also can be quite independent and play on his own. We often travel to England for visits and a few times a year go on holiday and feel it is better for him to be cared for in his own home.

We live in a village. Public transport is not great so you would really need a car. Supermarkets are about a 15 minute drive by car away. We have a three storey detached house with a garden and a field behind. We have a large kitchen/dining room/living room and a conservatory. A library room where you can help yourself to read the books, and a small patio area leading from the library. You will have the choice of two guest bedrooms. We have two bathrooms one upstairs and one downstairs. There is a washing machine and dryer in the basement. We are close to Bamberg, Erlangen and Nuremberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber and many other interesting cities and places are not too far away. We are on the edge of the countryside with many lovely walks and ideal for cycling. Nearby is a small lake and Schloss Weissenstein and grounds are behind our house.

Bertie is only a kitten and not old enough to go outside yet. Please ensure he is confined to the living room area, before you open the front door. Or in another place if you open the back door. My biggest fear is Bertie escaping while we are away, so we really need somebody who can be very careful about this! We feed Bertie one sachet of kitten food twice a day and give him a about a quarter of a dish of cat milk twice a day, but he can sometimes still get hungry, so we leave him a small bowl of a few biscuits as well. He has two litter trays in the living room and in the upstairs bathroom. They will need the waste taken away every day and toppig up sometimes with fresh litter. During the day he has the run of the house except the basement. We don’t let him in the basement yet. While it's summer we also leave the door to the conservatory open a little so he can come and go into it during the day to see the outdoor world a bit more. At night this door can be closed. He likes to play a lot and climb his scratch post. He loves to play with balls especially ones he can carry. He can almost play fetch! He will really enjoy playtime with you. He has loads of energy and often has the zoomies! But he can also be quite independent for short periods of time and happily play on his own, but I would prefer him not to be left on his own for more than 4 or 5 hours as he gets lonely and likes to know someone is nearby. He will often come when called. Although shy at first he is very friendly when he gets to know you. When it’s our bedtime we move his food, not the water fountain as there is a water bowl upstairs that needs changing daily, and toys up to the upstairs bathroom were he stays overnight. Please remember HE CANNOT GO OUTSIDE THE HOUSE! He has had his vaccinations but is still too young to be castrated. Which he will have when he is 6 months old and will also then be microchipped, after this he can start to go out. We would also appreciate you mowing the lawn, when necessary, watering the indoor plants weekly and outdoor plants (We will show you which ones) daily in dry hot weather, and taking in the mail. We would very much like to get daily updates and photos of Bertie. It would help put our minds at rest as he is still a baby and we don’t like to leave him! Thank you very much!!

Linda and Michael are some of the most gentle petparents I´ve ever met. Everything was well organized, the house comfortable, nice and clean and, the needs of Frisbee easily explained. The location of the house with the nice garden, just in front of a castle, is perfect to discover the area. Don´t miss out Bamberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber plus the lovely, tiny villages in the surroundings! Don´t worry about Frisbee. He´ll tell you exactely what he wants and when. Just make sure that he gets his drops, his food bufet is nicely filled up and, that he receives his daily wellness massage. In that case you´ll find a very good friend in him. I hardly could leave and still miss him. Hopefully we all meet again soon.

It was a great experience to sit Frisbee in Linda's and Michael's place! We were welcomed at their house very friendly even with a meal and got explained everything detailed. The location is beautiful with a lake, a castle and nature around and very quiet. We both enjoyed the company of Frisbee and caring for him. He is very friendly, calm and likes to be cuddled. It was sad to leave and we would love to care for him again. The contact with Linda during the stay was excellent and all questions were answered clearly. The house is well equipped with a big kitchen and definitely has enough space. We loved staying there and would recommend this Housesit! Karl and Azalea
