A cozy autumn sit with cats and a parrot in Holbrook, MA

Introduction

Hi! We are Kelly and Christina, pet parents to three cats and one parrot. Rosie, our house matriarch (all black), is 13 years old. She loves crinkle balls and sleeping on her mamas' bed. Lulu (black with a white chest patch) is 4 years old. She loves to chase the laser pointer and watch the birds outside. Leo (gray tiger, American Curl) is 3 years old and is Lulu's best friend. He loves snuggling and chasing the feather wand. Daisy is a blue Quaker Parrot who likes sharing mealtimes with the humans and saying little phrases ("pretty bird", etc.). Kelly is an Episcopal priest who works for the Bishop. Christina is a liturgical fabric artist that makes custom vestments for churches. Both of us work at home and our critters are used to lots of companionship. We have had a recent bad experIence with a house sitter that has made us uncertain about traveling. Our former house sitter did not understand the importance of cleaning a litter box daily. No human would choose to use a dirty toilet - it’s only fair that our feline companions do not have to choose between a dirty box and inappropriate places.

Home & location

We live in a quiet neighborhood about 15 miles south of Boston in a 3 bed/1.5 bath house. The bus stop for the T is a 5-minute walk away and the Braintree Red Line station is a 10-minute drive. We have a quiet and private backyard with a place to eat and a fire pit . Our parking is completely off-street. We are both good cooks and our kitchen is well equipped. There is a guest room with two large single beds or our bedroom with a queen-sized bed. We have central air and heat. Since we work at home, we have good high-speed Wi-Fi available. The living room has a large-screen TV with surround sound. It's an easy drive to the beach. Plus, Lake Holbrook is a 5-minute walk away where you can watch the geese and ducks.

Responsibilities

Mornings: All cats are fed both wet and dry food; Daisy is uncovered and gets food and clean water. All litterboxes are scooped and deodorized. Plants checked for water. Evenings: Bring in mail/packages. All cats are fed wet and dry food; All cats get playtime with toys. Daisy's cage is covered before bed. Our feline population is not yet integrated. Rosie’s safe space is our bedroom and Lulu and Leo’s safe space is the basement. The two young ones spend the night in the basement with either the door closed or the screen zipped. Rosie has the run of the house at night. During the day, Rosie is zipped into our room and the kids have the run of the house. Rosie and Daisy can be out together with supervision. Daisy cannot be out with the kids. If you are uncomfortable with caring for a bird, we have a place where she can be boarded. Just let us know. We will always leave our house clean for you. All we ask is that you maintain the same level of cleanliness for our return. If you use up any of the kitchen staples (flour, sugar, spices, condiments, etc.), please let us know so we won’t be surprised.
