Cozy coastal bungalow and hot tub near beaches, trails
Introduction
Hello, I'm Faeble, a sweet and energetic 2 year old dog. I'm trained, and generally good with other pets and people. My favorite thing in the world is to hike in the woods or walk with you along a nearby beach, and then cozy up by the woodstove for some well-earned downtime. The other pets in my house are pretty easy going. I'm kennel-trained, so you can also get out to explore Maine - or even just hit the hot tub - while I take a nap at home. When you let me out of my kennel later, I really like a quick tummy rub before I come out again. I hope you can come visit! *** Hi, Faeble's family here. We love animals and we also love to travel, so we are excited about Trusted Sitters both as hosts and as sitters. We have a couple trips coming up this year. After that, we hope to try out being sitters and get to meet some other cute pet friends!

We have a historical 1910 bungalow with a nice deck plus hot tub, and at night you can often hear the bells from the Casco Bay buoys. While in a residential neighborhood, we are also near the interstate as a great home base to explore the area. (The bus line stops across the street, too, and ubers are easily available.) We have indoor parking, a snowplow hired for storms, and shovel/de-icer for as needed use for winter. We see the stars at night and feel sea breezes, but are a five minute drive from the diverse city of Portland Maine. With a bustling art scene and farm to table restaurants, it’s a fun place to explore. We have a handbook with lots of restaurants and arts and beach recommendations. We are also very near beautiful beaches and hiking, some great snowshoe/winter trails. It's a great home base to explore southern Maine. Our house is also a five minute walk from a lovely little bakery and coffee shop, and a mile down the road from the town beach and a dog-friendly nature preserve with hiking trails. We live on a popular jogging and biking route. Sand beaches are not far - from a small town one a mile away, to the long Higgins or Pine Point beaches less than a half hour to the south. Walking through our neighborhood, you can see Casco Bay, with sailboats and islands in the distance. Skiing, snowshoeing and biking are great in the area, and we have two sets of bikes and snowshoes for guests. Note - Our home shares a wall and driveway with an inlaw guest house that we rent on Airbnb. There will be 1-2 people renting that space, so we ask that house sitters do not have a party, are quiet / respectful, and use the hot tub only after dark. While they are next door, the deck and home do not look out on their space so you will have privacy.

Big picture- We have a sweet, energetic 2 year old dog (she completed Charm School, which came after the basic puppy training.) The cats are pretty easy. There is a small chance we may pick Faeble up to go with us for part of the time, in which case th sitter would just watch the cats/home. Summary: Dog - Feed twice daily, walk 2-3 times ideally (ideally one off leash walk/beach visit per day), snuggles/pats. She gets a daily medication, We do have an electric fence, so she can go out when she rings the bell. She is kenneled at night and when the sitter is out. Cats - feed twice daily, clean litter daily. It is really important to clean both litter boxes every day. They are great about using the litter box if that is done, but they have accidents in the home if it's not done daily. Details: Dog: Faeble loves to explore and join you on adventures. She is also kennel trained. If she has had a nice long walk or ideally a hike/beach visit, she can be left 5-6 hours max (if you have plans she can't join you on.) While she loves hikes and walks (there are some great off leash beaches and trails just down the raod that she adores), she also loves to nap by the woodstove in fall or winter, She enjoys people nearby if you have plans to work remotely. Faeble is sociable and has a harness, so she can also go into town or to a dog-friendly brewery. Freeport is a pretty dog-friendly destination nearby. Faeble's electric collar needs to be on when in the yard, but off when going for a walk or an outing (of course). She gets a medication daily, usually with her breakfast. Cats: The cats are indoor cats. These two friendly brothers need food (and water check) daily. They enjoy getting their dry food morning and evening. They will do their own thing but will come out and hang out if you are at home reading or watching a show. They need the litter scooped daily. We also would like the house sitter to save mail and packages for us, and to water 1 or 2 plants on the deck. Note - there are 1-2 renters of the attached airbnb apartment, which has a separate entrance but shares a driveway. We appreciate the house sitters being quiet and respectful since we have a 5 star rating there we'd like to maintain. You will have plenty of privacy though - the main deck doesn't have a view of the guest house at all.

It was such a joy to be with Faeble, Couscous, Lee, and August for the week. Faeble is very well trained, and was comfortable going outside to the yard on her own. We had lovely walks together, and many hours sitting in front of the woodstove. Susan and Kyle have set up the guest space beautifully, I loved staying here and getting to know these adorable and affectionate pets!

Susan was really easy to communicate with. The house is well located, in a nice and quiet neighbourhood close to Portland. The animals were also a joy to take care of. We, especially our son, misses Faeble and her kisses a lot. Thanks again Susan!

I loved my time with this beautiful menagerie! Faeble was quite young during my stay, so Susan told me to focus on her. She's an incredibly smart and well-behaved puppy. Unfortunately I was recovering from a back injury and wasn't able to hike with her as much as I'd hoped, but we played fetch often outside and inside, and we visited her brother dog Mosey, who was staying with neighbors. The two pups played until they exhausted themselves. The cats are incredibly personable and loved affection whenever we crossed paths. The small critters were charming. Overall it was a fun and cozy experience with a lot of loving animals. I think this house sit is best for two active people because I felt guilty that I couldn't give everyone more attention and exercise, but I loved the time I did spend with each of them. Susan and her family are kind and welcoming. I'm glad I was able to meet them before their trip.
