Staycation in the Surrey Hills
Introduction
Hello, we are a family of 5 plus Rhubarb the 2 year old Goldendoodle. We are looking for someone (or a couple) to take good care of her when she can't come with us on holiday.

We live just outside Cranleigh in a comfortable sunny family home with large enclosed garden and private driveway. Cranleigh itself is a lovely friendly thriving village (more like a small town!) with pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and some independent shops. Cranleigh is surrounded by beautiful woodlands, situated right by the Surrey Hills (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and we are spoilt for choice for lovely walks - Hascombe, Winterfold and Blackheath are all close by. I'm happy to show you local routes etc. Guildford is about 20-25 minutes' away with great shopping. There are also a number of National Trust houses not too far away including Petworth House and Polesden Lacey. Lots to see and do! We have a lovely open plan kitchen with bifold doors to the south facing garden. Comfortable sitting room with log burning fire. A double bedroom is on offer with en-suite shower room (our daughter's bedroom). We live about 5 minutes' drive outside Cranleigh. Unfortunately there are no pavements or footpaths from the house so a car is essential.

Rhubarb sleeps in her crate but likes to be up by 7.30/8am. She has 2 meals a day (but is a crafty thief if we accidentally leave food out)! She is very energetic and needs at least one decent walk per day (an hour minimum) but she is happy to walk longer or go out more than once. She can be left on her own for up to 4 hours. Once she's been walked she's happy to snooze or just keep you company. She's very good in the car. She walks off the lead with us but her recall is not bomb-proof! She loves to snuggle up and watch TV in the evening!

We stayed at Lucy’s home at Easter for 8 days and looked after Rhubarb. The listing is very honest and we knew exactly what to expect during our stay. Lucy was an excellent communicator before and during our stay. We had a WhatsApp face time call which gave us both chance to ask and answer questions. When we arrived the family were so welcoming and all came to meet us and help us feel at ease. Their beautiful home was spotlessly clean and we were shown around and everything explained to us. Lucy showed on us a map places for nice walks and sent an email with this information ℹ️ plus phone numbers off useful things like the vet, neighbours etc.Lucy also kindly left us 2 bottles of wine and coffee.Lucys Rhubarb is the sweetest dog, she is well trained and we were instantly smitten with her. She is so affectionate and fun loving and became my shadow in the loveliest way. She was happy to do long walks and come out for lunch with us and everyone wants to say hello to her as she is a kind friendly girl. We were really sad to say goodbye to her.

We had the best time looking after Rhubarb, what a special dog (definitely one of our favourite dogs we have looked after) She needs reassurance and likes to be with you most of the time but that was ok for us, she is a delight. Lucy was a perfect communicator, before and during the house sit. No problems at all. The house is lovely and comfortable with a huge enclosed garden. The house was impeccably clean and the bedroom we stayed in was super comfortable. The location is fantastic for walking, beautiful forests and woodlands. Lucy also left us both a couple of bottles of wine and coffee, as well which was a lovely touch. All in all a top notch sit. Thanks Lucy (and family)

I have just looked after the adorable Rhubarb for a week and it was a real treat! Lucy is a great host, kind and considerate and explained everything very clearly, and was always in hand if I had any questions. Rhubarb is such a character, still an excitable pup really but a sweet intelligent doggo that is fun to be around and a little mischievous too! She’ll steal food if she knows you’re not watching and she loves her walks and to race around the garden with her toys. Lucy’s home is also lovely and comfortable and has everything you could possibly want. Thank you Lucy and family for a lovely house sit! ❤️
