A lovely rural setting with 3 Cocker spaniels who love walks and good company.

Introduction

I have recently moved into the Mains at Haddo. The house is spacious, warm and comfortable, and the 'girls' and I are settling in well. There is a big garden and lovely local walks round Haddo Country Park and further afield on the coast or in the hills. I am hoping to be away in April for a few days and again in September, if not before. You will be very welcome here.

Home & location

The house is beside the Estate Office and farm on Haddo House Estate. There is a comfortable sitting room and a kitchen / living room. Helpful neighbours are nearby, including a lady who helps in the house. She loves the dogs but cannot be with them as much as I (and they) would like. We are 35 minutes from the City of Aberdeen. Ellon is our nearest town, 5 miles away. There are many places of historic interest to visit and lovely country walks, not least Haddo House and Country Park.

Responsibilities

The dogs go out into the garden between 7 and 7.30 am. They have a little porridge or weetabix for breakfast. A short walk in the morning. Lunch at 1 and a longer walk in the afternoon. They are pretty settled in the evening and just love company. I tried a rule about sofa by invitation only but that rarely goes to plan. I take them round the garden about 10pm before bed, with Bob on her lead in case she gets distracted. They share a rich tea biscuit last thing.

We loved staying at Joanna’s cosy and spacious home. Bobby, Whisp and Truffle were on their best behaviour and we spent many hours walking through the local estate before stopping at their coffee shop on the way back. We also had time to visit Banff and the local friendly pub in Tarves. We enjoyed cooking meals on Joanna’s Arga. The bed was very comfortable. We recommend this sit for those who want to spend time relaxing in the Scottish countryside.

What a wonderful time with Joanna's 3 gorgeous cocker spaniels. I was made really welcome and made a new friend in the area, introduced by Joanna, as well as being introduced to the National Trust cafe owner with warmth and welcome. I would definitely recommend this sit for the beautiful surroundings, peace and calm of the farmhouse and the luxury of hot baths and a woodbutning stove. Joanna was in contact regularly ensuring I was ok and her family close by did the same...a really positive experience.

Joanna is a kind and considerate host who ensured my stay was comfortable in every way. Her beautiful rural home is filled with light and you can sense as soon as you enter that it was a lovely home to bring up a happy family. And the dogs... three generations of adorable, affectionate cocker spaniels, each with her own particular personality. Quite happy to be ferried around in the back of my car, they were great company. Otherwise they would be safe and happy running around in the beautiful, large walled garden. Although Joanna is relocating nearby, I know her new home will be as welcoming for any future sitter.
