Looking for a dog&house sitter in a cozy apartment in the heart of Basel

Hi there! We are Raquel and Arne, we live in Basel City. We love to travel with our dogs, but sometimes it is not possible. We are looking for a caring sitter for our two little maltesers Tito&Susi. For them is hard to move somewhere else, so we feel much more comfortable to leave them at our home with a person who would really take care of them and enjoy the place.

We have a big and cozy apartment with a garden in the center of Basel. Surrounding the area is full of shops (Manor, Migros, Coop, Jumbo, H&M) and a few minutes (4min by walk) to the river. The sitters would be able to choose the bedroom they most like (There are the master bedroom and a guest bedroom) and use anything they want from the apartment. There is an office with a big desk, and also a rowing machine and weight for the ones who like to do some sport. There are 2 bathrooms, one of them with a big bath. The kitchen is fully equipped: coffee machine, microwave, oven, steamer etc. There is a wash machine and a dryer machine in the apartment.

They normally have a little walk early morning - enough to do their needs (There is a park in the corner of our home) and after they get their food. Midday we walk them again and late in the evening. Tito is a very chill dog, mostly he lays down all day. Susi is more active she loves to play fetch with her toys around the house and garden. We have several plants that would need to get some water too.

It was a beautiful experience, from the moment we arrived until we had to leave. Tito and Susi are really beautiful, they accepted us as soon as we arrived. Susi is like a little sister, she plays, runs, follows you everywhere. Tito, like a very quiet older brother, sleeps almost all day, and when he doesn't sleep he comes to receive some cuddles and then leaves. They both play with each other, more than anything Susi is the one who looks for the game but Tito sometimes also gives it back to her haha. Raquel and Arnal are very very kind, we feel incredible mutual trust. It was our first time taking care of pets of complete strangers and the truth is we are very happy that it was with them, it was very pleasant. Their house is very beautiful, very well cared for and warm, and we kept it that way. It is impossible not to get attached to Tito & Susi, so much so that we hope to return to Switzerland at some point to visit them, or who says, maybe at some point we will be able to take care of them again.

We had an incredible experience with the dogs and home! Raquel and Arne are kind, honest, and generous. We were able to meet with them at the home 1 day prior to the start of the sit. They ensured that we had all of the necessary information about both the dogs and the home. They were consistent and clear in their communication with us throughout the sit. The dogs, Tito and Susi are sweet, well-behaved and easy to care for. They thoroughly enjoyed their walks, and we were able to explore a bit of Basel with them without worry. They loved sitting outside in the lovely terrace and garden. Susi LOVES having her ball thrown to her, and could do it for hours! Susi is active and loves to have fun with Tito and people. Tito is a bit more quiet and reserved. He loves to curl up and cuddle. The home is fabulous, with the garden/terrace being the highlight. It is well-stocked with any supplies that one may need for cooking and cleaning. We are both remote workers, doing several hours of video call per day, and the internet was top notch. We would not hesitate to recommend Arne, Raquel, Tito, and Susi. We feel so privileged to have been entrusted to their home and care.

The Dogs: I had a great time looking after Tito and Susi. The dogs are very affectionate, sweet, and liked to follow me around as I walked around the apartment. The dogs really enjoy their walks, especially Susi who is a lot more vocal of the two. Tito likes to sneak into Susi's bowl for extra food and likes to rest. Susi loves to play fetch, but sometimes won't give you the toy, she also loves belly rubs. They are both tolerant of being brushed, make sure to do so slowly and gently. The two were a joy to take care of and I miss their little faces already! I enjoyed their company during my time in Basel. Raquel & Arne: When I first arrived Raquel and Arne gave me a tour of their home and had everything the dogs needed in stock and prepared. Raquel was very responsive with any questions I had concerning the dogs, the apartment, and Basel during the dog sit. She was very cordial in her communications and accommodating with my travel times. Definitely recommend Raquel as a client! The Apartment/Location: Great location with a small east Asian market on the first floor and on the corner of the public transit stop for buses and trams, as well as a taxi stop. Getting around Basel was very simple and easy and I loved stepping outside onto the terrace in the morning with the dogs for breakfast. Workout equipment is available! I did have to look up how to use the appliances and then it was a piece of cake. Basel does go to sleep early than the States and Berlin for examples. There are lots of museums that offer free admission during specific hours and great free attractions such as the university botanical garden and the river promenade.
