Private, Beautiful, and Serene + One Dog

Introduction

Hi Everyone! My husband, Jim, and I are happy to be a part of this community. We have been married for 36 years and though he still has to continue to work for some time yet, (he is a behavioral health therapist), we are still hoping to figure out how to travel to interesting places! I, Jody, am a semi-retired pastor and hospital chaplain, a novice but avid photographer (birds are my favorite!), and we are the parents of two, wonderful grown children. So, now feels like the right time to start seeing the world! Happy travels to you all!

Home & location

Our home is a part of a subdivision of 8 homes each having a ratio of 5 acres of land to one home. Our property is very beautiful and private and we are able to see only one of our neighbors. We look out our windows at expansive lawns and huge trees. We are backed up to woods that welcome all kinds of birds including the pileated woodpecker and the northern flicker. Our home is just under 2000 sq ft and has a study and a bedroom that is being used as a very small exercise area. We love our home and feel safe here. We have high speed internet, a washer and dryer, and a printer in the office if needed. Our kitchen is fully stocked with spices and such as my husband loves to cook! Also, we are about 40 minutes from Tacoma, 1.5 hours from Seattle, and 1 hour from the entrance of Mt. Rainier.

Responsibilities

Kaiya is a self-feeding dog and all you have to do is keep her food and water bowl full. There is no worrying about measuring her food or putting it out at certain times of the day. Kaiya wanders around our yard and just asks to be let out from time to time. She loves walks if you are willing and there are some nice places to walk around and near our home. She does need one medication 2 times per day because she is getting to be an older gal (9 years!). Just wrap it in melted cheese and your are good to go. One thing to note is that Kaiya is a terrier so she is very independent and does not always get along with other dogs. This sit might be best for those who are not bringing a furry friend along!

Jim and Jody are exceptional hosts and amazing pet parents to Kaiya! I was welcomed me into their home 2 days early and invited to stay 8 days until my next sit in another state. I was amazed at and grateful for Jim and Jody’s thoughtfulness and kindness to me. Jody’s Hospital Chaplain experiences proved very helpful to my professional journey. Thank you Jody! I nudged my eating preference to indulge in one of Jim’s delicious master-chef cuisine! And I even attempted a few culinary feats in the top-notch kitchen of their beautiful home. Kaiya is a true hunter dog and leader with quite the personality! She also loves her independence but will sit at your feet under the table or on the chair across from you when she chooses! I enjoyed my time in this lush country setting yet close to restaurants and groceries. This is truly a sitter’s delight if you enjoy - 5 lush acres, deers, close proximity to groceries, varying restaurants, trails heads, etc!

Jody & Jim have a beautiful home that is nice and tidy and organized. They are both so kind and thoughtful. I loved the cozy gas fireplace & wonderful kitchen. Kaiya the pup is quite a character! She will make you laugh and she loves her walks, we had a great time exploring and checking out the scenery. All the deer that pass through the property each day make you feel like you are in a beautiful nature scene. Jody was easy to reach even from another country and was great with helping answer any questions that came up. If you're looking for a nature getaway, this could be your great escape!
