Kent based furry cat searching for Housesitters

Introduction

Runner lives in a hamlet and requires food, drink and some attention while his owners are on holiday. He is a former rescue cat who has been with us for almost 5 years. He came to us with an older cat, John, who sadly passed away recently from cancer. Runner has recently come out of his shell and while he is still extremely shy , he will be your best friend at mealtimes. He is curious about people and over time you can win his confidence.

Although a very short sit, I very much enjoyed my stay at Karen and Niall. The house and gardens are lovely and very peaceful and Runner kept an eye on me. Karen met me on arrival, made me feel welcomed and introduced me to Runner and my 'duties'. Thank you for a very easy and relaxing sit, perhaps there will be another chance for a sit in the future.

We had a lovely stay looking after Runner. Karen and Niall made us feel very welcomed and comfortable whilst we stayed to take of Runner. He is a little independent boy who is shy of newbies. He does like to patrol his manner and come for his food when it’s feeding time. Karen and Niall live in a lovely area with lots of walks to do and places to see. Karen left us loads of attraction leaflets which was very helpful. We would definitely come back if we could. 😀

As Karen and Niall were leaving very early in the morning, I arrived the day before and was treated to a wonderful dinner in the local pub – how extremely generous of them both. The house itself is an old, converted schoolhouse and is absolutely splendid – with everything you could possibly want (especially the magnificent kitchen). There is a lovely church next door and a field of sheep directly opposite – it’s idyllic, especially if you love the outside. Karen and Niall’s Welcome Guide provided very full instructions, including directions to local attractions, pubs, supermarkets and country walks - perfect. As for Runner, he was adorable, but certainly a very independent cat. But when you did get to spend time with him (usually outside) he was hugely affectionate and enjoyed having his long hair groomed. As it rained most days during my sit, and with Runner spending so much of his time outside, my only regret was not being able to spend more time with him. He was such a gentle and loving cat and I’d love to see him again (when the weather’s better!).

Our house sit looking after Runner was a complete pleasure. We had dinner with Niall and Karen the night before they went away which made us feel at ease in their home, and was lovely to get to know them. Runner is an independent wee fella, but given the time (and some ham ha) he may warm up to you. Some days we were his best friends and other days he didn’t want to know us, he can be very vocal and will let you know exactly what he wants! He is very easy to look after and a real pleasure to be around. Karen left exceptionally detailed instructions for the house, and for Runners routine so the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable. The area has much to offer, being only a train ride from London and located by a network of country walks so you enjoy the best of both worlds! There a plenty of great food, coffee and wine options if that’s what you fancy. If you work from home like I often do, the house is well equipped with good wifi and plenty of work space options. Can highly recommend housesitting for Runner and would definitely do it again given the opportunity. Thank you to Karen, Niall and Runner for welcoming us into their home.
