House and Dog sitters
Introduction
I am an Interior designer with a home in Australia and a home in the South West of France: I need house sitters when I travel to NYC or Sydney to see family I have a beautiful 18th Manor House and some gites in the country side of the Gers. With a view of the Pyrenees mountains. Plenty of walking, hiking, visiting markets, antiqueing. the charming town of Eauzeis 6 ks away and there is the use of a car provided. Ideally I presently need a couple for two weeks over Christmas. However there is room enough in the pretty converted pigeonierre or farmhouse for a longer stay if needed.

If you have children over 8 years old, this house is OK. It is not suitable for toddlers. The house is full of antiques and art so a caring couple in their fifties and up would be best. The pets consist of one small Italian greyhound and one sweet and friendly cat.and recently a Whippet rescue. All very loving.

Lovely the Iggy and Whitty the cat. Both are characters. Better to keep Whitty in after her 5pm feed. Lovely won’t want to go out very often. She has a jumper and a coat. Either can be worn if it is cold for a little walk. Best kept on a lead. Always let her out on and off during the day. First thing in the morning and last thing at night. She is going deaf and a little myopic , so gets confused in the dark. Est to stand outside with her for the last wee. She can get upstairs but not down. She likes to be under her blanket at the end of the bed. Hates to be alone, but loathes going in the car. So shut her in the TV room and kitchen when you go out. She has her blanket and her bed can be moved upstairs in your room.

Looking back on my days at Lexis I can but smile. Miv and Mike did their best to accommodate me. They proved to be the most generous hosts (delicious cooking, too!). Our communication was straightforward and easy, beforehand and while there. I was picked up and dropped off at Agen train station at the end of my long stay - it was truly sad to say goodbye! I was given a room on the first floor of the manor house which had windows toward the southeast, so whenever the sun was shining, it lit up the antique furnishings and brought the love-worn old toys arranged on the sideboard to life. The other rooms, likewise, are decorated with a delightful aesthetic sense of colour, paired with the love for rare objects of bygone days and a dash of humour. So even if it is nasty outside, which happens quite often in winter and spring, you'll be enjoying the Alice in Wonderland interior of Lexis and sit by a blazing fire in the living room, a snuggly dog or cat on your lap. The animals were sweet as can be, above all little Lovely, the tiny Italian Greyhound. Due to her old age, the odd accident is apt to occur, so an eye to her needs and letting her out often is important. Raven the Whippet is a charmer, adept at hiding his ravenous alter ego. So be aware of this naughty boy who gets his nose into every plate that he can reach. Luckily for us his missing fourth leg keeps preventing him to jump onto the countertop or kitchen table. He manages nicely, however, to get around for all his other pursuits and needs to be controlled steadily so that he wouldn't wander off the grounds. Whitty the green-eyed kitty loves sleeping on your bed whenever she is not out and about. She likes to be stroked but nontheless remains self-reliant and independent like most cats. The chicken freely roam the beautifully landscaped grounds after you opened their gate in the morning and provide tasty eggs of high nutritional value. They require little work to be cheerful. In summary: an outstanding housesitting experience - I hope to be back again!

We really y enjoyed our stay with Miv. We stayed in the farmhouse, rather than in the main house, and it was nice to have our own space. The farmhouse is very cosy with well set-up kitchen, wood burner as well as central heating and huge comfy bed. Both dogs are very easy to look after and affectionate. Lovely is getting on a bit now and spends most of her time in front of the fire. She doesn't need walking, just letting out in the garden, which needs to be done regularly to avoid any accidents indoors. Raven doesn't let the fact that he has only three legs hold him back at all and is easy to walk around the grounds on a lead. Whitty the cat is a real character. We shut the door at the top of the landing at night and they slept downstairs. We've never looked after such well behaved chickens, very easy. Miv was always easily contactable if we had any questions and cooked us a super meal on our first night. She has led a fascinating life, some of which she shared with us and so it was an enjoyable evening. We thoroughly recommend this sit.

John and Susan are the stars among house sitters. I left for Australia for 10 weeks and came back to two happy healthy dogs, a perfect house, a car that purred like a Cheshire cat a wonderful hot meal (Much appreciated after travelling 48 hours through snow and ice.) and a really warm welcome. I can neither thank or recommend them enough. They truly were a Godsend.
