Three loveable labradoodles and elderly cat looking for loving holiday carer's.

Introduction

Hi . My name is Christine Boston. I am retired though keep busy looking after our three dogs. I also keep busy with my hobby of making and selling fused glass items. Husband Tim works for GWR. We both hate the thought of kennels for our pets whom we love dearly. We have a nice home in a stunning area with amazing views so we decided to try housesitters.

Home & location

We are lucky enough to live in the small hamlet of Trebarvah, an amazing place surrounded by countryside and overlooking the village of Perranuthnoe. Only a 10 minute walk by public footpaths is the village of Perranuthnoe, the beach and the south west coast path. Our home is a two bed detached bungalow with the main bedroom having an ensuite and double glazed doors out onto the decking where you will find our hot tub. We have largish gardens front and back with uninterrupted panoramic views of Mounts Bay and St Michaels Mount. We are approx 7 miles by car to the nearest towns of Penzance and Helston. Marazion and the Mount are approx. 2.5 miles away and an easy walk along the coast path. The bungalow has air source heating and underfloor heating. Entry is from the rear via a porch and kitchen. We have a room next to the porch used as an office. A small inner hall leads off to the main bedroom plus en-suite and a second bedroom, and livingroom, conservatory and the family shower room. Attached is a large storage space with washing macine and tumble dryer and a workshop. There is also ample parking.

Responsibilities

Caring, cuddling and giving our 3 dogs and our cat lots of love. Lots of walks and fuss. The dogs have one long walk every day and three or four shorter walks. We run them out when they first get up and around 10-10.30ish before bed. They are very well behaved on lead as a genral rule and the three of them can be walked easily on leads by one person if necessary. Bonny and Cassie can be let off lead along the footpaths though they have been known to sneak off to the beach so need to be watched. They are well known and liked by many of the locals in the area. The feelings are mutual. Especially the ones they get treats from. They are fed twice a day. Around 7.30-8.00 and 5.30-6.00. Giving them treats when they are good and playing ball with them is a must but beware, they do get very excited. Chico is fed as and when bowls need topping up. She will spend most of her day in the conservatory though will sleep on the bed with you at night. Be warned, she is persistent and is not above scratching doors to be let in. Bird feeders will need to be filled each morning. Its worth doing as they are great fun to watch.

This is a wonderful pet sit for anyone energetic and who loves to adventure along coastal and country walking tracks several times a day with Bonnie, Cassie and Millie for company. Bonnie, Cassie and Millie are very attentive and friendly. Although they are used to having time to run free on their walks or on the beach, we played cautious and kept them on the lead, they seemed to be happy with this arrangement as if making temporary allowance for us. As long as they had their walks anyway, they were very appreciative. If we had stayed longer, we would have let them run free as we became familiar with them and them with us. At home, Cassie and Millie would play together in the garden while Bonnie would watch on as her hips were slowing her down a bit. Throwing ball is a must, Cassie and Millie excitedly chased and caught the balls. With Bonnie, we would play ball gently and she was so happy to pickup the ball and give it back to us. Millie sensed this and actually aided Bonnie to have a turn to take the ball and give it to us. The three of them are very intelligent and also very caring of each other. On the other hand, Millie and Cassie could be very quick and cheeky, Cassie has her eye on the treats container attached to their walks shoulder bag (for water, bin bags etc) and took an opportunity to raid the treats container when I bent to put Millie's lead on! Millie liked taking stray clothes, a shoe, linen or a cushion outside and challenging us to retrieve them, instead we distracted her by throwing a ball and she would drop the item. On their return, Chris showed us how clever Bonnie, Cassie and Millie are at understanding commands with ball play and rolling over etc. Chris has an amazing connection with them. Chico is Chico, like most cats she does that which pleases her. Chico has several sleeping places and cat flaps, safe from her dog family, the big bed being her favourite place, she would even "disappear" under a cover on the bed during the day to sleep. When humans pay her attention, Chico becomes very vocal and likes to chat loudly and enjoys cuddles and stroking. At night, Chico allows us to share (her) big bed, plenty of room for all, she will also cuddle up and purr contentedly. They all found a place in our hearts, we would have been happy to have stayed much longer with them. Phone and text communication with Chris was easy and efficient. On arrival Chris and Tim took time to show us around the house. Chris also printed helpful and comprehensive instructions and information for the house and pet care, plus a much appreciated map of the walking tracks which we always took with us on walks. Chris and Tim's house and garden are immaculate and easy to keep clean. The sea view is exceptional. Although we didn't cook in the short time there, there is plenty of equipment to easily cook. Chris generously offered for us to use any food, fruit, wine that they had left. We did find time to use the hot tub (our first experience) because it's situation and view was irresistible, a real feelgood experience. If we are near Cornwall again when Chris and Tim need pet-sitters, we would jump at the chance if asked, we miss their pet family even after only a short time with them. We highly recommend sitting for Chris and Tim and their appreciative pets and we appreciate being invited, thank you Chris and Tim.
