We live 24 Miles north of Atlanta in a town called Milton. It is the horse affluent suburb of Atlanta. While we are in a rural setting we are less than 10 minutes from all major shops (Costco, Target, Walmart etc) and 30+ restaurants. It is very unusual in the US to find a town like Milton which combines country living with all of the amenities of a large city only minutes away. In 2019, Milton was listed as one of the top 3 cities to live in Georgia. Our house sits in the center of a 10 acre property so you are surrounded with 4 board horse pastures and have horse farms on 3 sides. We have a large kitchen (500 sqft) with all the amenities and tools not limited to breadmaker, waffle maker, Crepe maker, planchia and steam oven. We also have a Big Green Egg if you enjoy cooking. Every bedroom in our house has its own bathroom and all beds are new, the guest room bed is from 2021 and is of high quality. We have many amenities such as a full gym with a Peloton bike, a treadmill and a water Rower along with all mats weights etc. We also have a pool that is professionally maintained and a hot tub to relax in in the evening. We can leave a car at your disposal if needed.

There are lots of animals but it actually only take 1.5h per day to feed them in the winter and 45 min a day in the summer as they stay outside and only eat 1/day. Your responsibility would be to spend the night and part of the day at home to keep the dogs company. You would need to walk them too at least 15 min every day. They should not be left alone for more than 6 hours at a time. The dogs are happy to go with you to parks on day trips and love the car. In the morning, let the chickens and Ducks out, make sure everyone has water and food. You would get the cat food out. In the evening Close chicken coop door and count the chickens. Feed the horses and the cats.

We had a memorable, great experience at Alasdair and Christine's home. The dogs, Tina and Turner, are two of the most loving pups we've met in our many housesits, making us laugh daily at their friendly competition for attention. The fenced back yard makes dog care easy. We'd highly recommend taking the dogs for a walk at the former Milton Country Club if you want an outing. Shadow, the cat, was truly our shadow, loving to just hang out wherever we were. Socks only appeared once while we were there, which is typical for him. We enjoyed feeding Potato, the guinea pig, his daily pepper. He's a real cutie, with little work involved in feeding and keeping his cage clean. Tossing hay, cleaning stalls, and feeding animals at the barn brought back fond memories of our former horse breeding days. Lydia, who boards her horses here, was a wealth of knowledge as we learned personalities, habits and interactions of farm animals. Getting chickens into the coop nightly was a new adventure which, after a little practice, became a fun experience, rewarded by fresh eggs for breakfast each day. Alasdair & Christine were welcoming and responded immediately to any questions. Their home is very comfortable, with the huge kitchen and hot tub special highlights. There is no TV, but a large screen and projector is available to use with your computer for streaming as desired. With the farm setting, it's a great place to ignore TV. Alasdair's tip to check out Amos' BarBQ was a good one, and we enjoyed drives in this upscale, gorgeous neighborhood. We'd highly recommend this sit for anyone with horse experience. Getting animals in and out of stalls for feeding and administering some meds made use of our past horse background and might be a bit intimidating for those without farm/large animal experience. For those comfortable with that, this is a GREAT housesit.

Alasdair, Christine, Tristan, and Ekat were great hosts, and taking care of their 30+ fur family was an experience to remember. The responsibilities were clearly outlined, and the family has in place some great friends and supporters to assist. Christine and Alasdair were also very responsive throughout our stay. Caring for the indoor pets, plants, and stable animals provided a rhythm of wholesome work that was a perfect fit for us. Depending on the length of time, we recommend at least two sitters, a couple, or one experienced caretaker when considering a sit. Any challenges with caring for the animals, including a particular temperamental rooster and an unforeseen hospital visit for one of their sweet canines, were dwarfed by how much love the family and pets had to give. I loved all the animals but must leave a shout-out to Teena, clever Shadow, and dearest Turner 🐶 who I bonded with most. He is resilient and cheerful and lives up to the adage that "dogs are a man's best friend." We wish you all the best and do reach out if you ever visit Western NC. P.S. consider yourself in good favor if Socks graces you with his presence. 🐱

What a fun and adventurous sit - We just did not stay long enough to enjoy everything that Alasdair & Christine's beautiful property has to offer! It's very easy to see that every pet on the farm is loved and well-cared for. They were all so sweet and affectionate! (Except for The Colonel and The General......but we understand that, as roosters, they have VERY important jobs protecting their chickens and their coop!) Teena and Turner never left our sides and you can tell that they are extremely faithful companions. Communication was excellent before and during the sit! We were provided with both a) an opportunity to visit before our sit and b) well-documented instructions and available resources/supports, should they be required. We slept great in their well-appointed guest suite and their beautiful, new kitchen is an absolute dream! It was a pleasure getting to know Alasdair and Christine and their family - they are kind and generous - and we hope we get a chance to sit at the farm, again, soon!

5 stars for Alasdair and Christine! It was an absolute pleasure to house sit for them. Communication from day one was excellent. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort during our stay. They are both very kind, thoughtful and generous. Instructions for caring for the home and beautiful animals are detailed and easy to follow. The setting is nothing short of therapeutic. Their animals are so easy to love and it was such a fun experience to look after horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks. The dogs and cats are so sweet. Consider yourself lucky if you are able to spend time house sitting for this lovely family.

Caring for the 30 Rambaud farm friends for a week over Thanksgiving was a wonderful experience. It was great to meet the family for a 90 minute tour before their departure, to go through the food, water, hay and cleaning duties for the animals. There is a lot to remember initially, but there are excellent written instructions in the barn and the house for reference. Communication with Alasdair and Christine prior to and during the sit was excellent and they responded immediately to any questions that arose. This sit is perfect for true animal lovers. The dogs are your constant companions and they love racing around together on the back lawn which is securely fenced. Socks the cat only appeared a few times, but Shadow loves attention and will sit on your lap for hours. Ringo the little donkey loves to have his butt scratched and Dominick the donkey is a gentle soul who enjoys chin scratches. The horses, Starr and Albany, are gorgeous and it was a joy to take care of them. The chickens and ducks are hilarious. Each have their own personality and their delicious daily eggs were such a treat. The outdoor cats are friendly and receive their meals up at the barn. The house is very clean and comfortable and we appreciated the quality linens, towels, cookware and appliances. The internet service is very good, so joining work meetings was no problem at all. Can’t stop thinking about the amazing experience and definitely hope to return for a future visit.
