Cat lovers
Introduction
My wife sue and I are retired and live in an idyllic corner of SW France. We like to travel but have one very spoilt cats who we love to bits and hate to leave when we go away and so would like someone to live in our home to love and care for him. Bertie was left on the doorstep at four weeks old and is now 8 and huge but scared of his own shadow We live in a renovated French farmhouse surrounded by fields and vineyards and have three medieval small towns with all amenities only 12minutes away. It is very peaceful here but there is no feeling of isolation only a feeling of being at one with the countryside and knowing that restaurants bars shops outdoor markets and cinemas are a short drive away. There are three airports 1 to1/2 hours away and the railway station in Agen is 40mins from us We moved here 15 years ago from Ct in the US and love it.

Our home was built of local stone in about 1830 . It’s name is Camuzat as are the other two farmhouses in our little complex. We totally renovated the farm buildings twelve years ago keeping the old atmospheric beams stone walls and walk in fireplaces but adding modern bathrooms and kitchens in keeping with its age. There are two double bathrooms en suite, an office, a living room, library and large kitchen dining sitting area in the main house. One wing is now a two bedroomed gite and there is also an annexe with two bedrooms kitchen and living area The house has blue shutters and is at the end of a driveway with fields on either side and a long view from the orchard of surrounding hills and valleys We own about four acres in total but most of it is farmed by the local farmer. . The village of Moncrabeau is 4kms away but sadly there no shops now just a little cafe that sells a few groceries and a three stall market on Friday mornings. However we are not short of restaurants and shops in the nearby exquidistant three towns each 12 minutes away. The outdoor markets that France is famous for are plentiful as are country walks and quiet roads for cyclists. History abounds in the little towns and villages and so there is a lot to do and see.
Show more...Responsibilities
Our cats are the main priority and will need love and attention being fed and the kitty litter changing. They do go outdoors but spend most of the time indoors and only Bertie goes out in the evening but must be in before you go to bed. He will take a while to get used to you as he is so shy. Leo loves to sit on the chair beside you and have his chin tickled. We have a cleaner who comes once a week but we would expect the house to be left in the same manner as found. There is no smoking allowed indoors. Spring into summer there could be the lawn to be mowed -we have a ride on mower -maybe a few weeds to be pulled, outdoor flowers to be watered and the pool to be checked if it is open. If the gite is let it is self catering and if any problems arise we should be contacted . However the season for letting is summer time and we stay here then. It is unusual to have a rental before May

We can’t imagine a better pet sit than the one we had with Bertie at Robin and Sue’s beautiful home in Moncrabeau. Sue left clear, easy to follow instructions, and Bertie was gentleman enough to comply with every one of them. Seriously, he was such an easy keeper, he made our stay a joy. The location is amazing as there are so many quaint villages, market towns, and sites to explore near by. Sue and Robin were available by email so we were able to keep contact during our stay. Would return in a heartbeat. Just a wonderful experience. Thank you Robin, Sue, and Bertie.

Sue and Robin are convivial hosts and we we're given a warm and festive welcome into their comfortable home. The regional scenic countryside and various historic towns and villages are great to explore. The detailed introduction to home and care plan for Bertie ensured a worry free stay. Thank you both. Kind regards, Marion and Craig

What a wonderful reception we received on arrival at Sue and Robins for our THS. We joined them for drinks and a most welcome home cooked dinner, Sue is a great and generous cook. Robin is the best teller of stories, some even factual but all funny! The elusive but ever present Bertie was quite and did his own thing, mostly hiding from us but always turns up for his dinners and the occasional snuggle (definitely on his own terms tho). Our warm, comfortable and thoughtfully prepared lodging was perfect, full of character and with every conceivable convenience you could wish for. The beaux villages around Moncrabeau are plentiful and Sue and Robin leave a lot of recommendations, for sightseeing and dining and the local produce is superb. Very much recommend this sit - this will be a THS that will remain in our hearts for so many reasons. Thank you from us both, we loved it all and will come back one day, if Bertie agrees. What a wonderful week! Sue and Robin are the perfect hosts: a fab supper awaited us upon arrival and our room was ready. They are both very funny and gracious and it was a shame we didn't have more time together to listen to their stories. Bertie is all a character: he is indeed very shy but does love the company, a good back scratch and for you to be ready to top up his food bowl whenever he demands it. He is very easy to care for and a delight when he finally comes around to getting used to you. The house is a dream on a piece of paradise and we wouldn't hesitate one bit about going back. Thanks again Sue and Robin for sharing your fab home with us and entrusting us with the care of your beloved Bertie.

Robin and Sue are incredibly gracious hosts with a lovely home and an very independent cat, Bertie! Robin and Sue introduced us to their friends and neighbors in case we needed anything and Sue’s detailed itinerary and house sitter instructions cannot be rivaled. Great communication. Sue is an amazing entertainer who prepared two dinners to enjoy with us before they left and we even had some in the fridge for later. Bertie is a man on a mission and will keep you on his schedule of feedings, snacks and door openings. We didn’t see much of him early on but later in the sit he would grace us with his presence in the dining room either on the floor or in Mike’s chair to hang out as long as he felt like socializing. We would recommend this sit on all of that alone but it also happens to be in beautiful southwest France. Gascony at its finest! Thank you Robin and Sue for having us!
