Home & location

We have a modern 200 m2 house on two floors with garden/patio, home cinema room, office (printer/monitor), living room with smart TV, yoga room, walk-in closet room, guest double bedroom+closet, 1 toilet/wc, 1 family bathroom (shower/ jacuzzi tub), 1 master bedroom+ ensuite shower, kitchen with dining area up to 6 people. We have an additional inflatable bed. Your room has private bathroom and a built-in wardrobes that can be used to hang your clothes. Hairdryer. Kettle with tea/coffees. The location is a quiet residential area surrounded by trees, it is 20-30 mins walk to city centre and 45 mins walk to the beach. The nearest park, Baxter Park, is just a 5 minute walk, and so is the nearest supermarket/pharmacy. There is a lovely pedestrian walk nearby along the Firth of Tay and from there you can walk along the river up to Brought Ferry in 30 mins. We are lucky to have a bus stop next to our home (in 5-10 mins to Dundee city center, 15 mins to Broughty Ferry, a nice village with a castle and a lovely beach). Dundee itself has lots to see, including the new V&A museum, the RSS Discovery Museum, the DCA, Mc Manus Art Gallery, HMS Unicorn, Verdant Works, Dundee Law, Balgay Hill, Camperdown Wildlife Centre, Dundee Ice Arena etc. Nearby we have the town of St. Andrews (30 mins by bus), Tentsmuir Beach and Forest as well as the beautiful Scottish countryside and mountains. The Fife coastal path along the the East Neuk Fishing Villages and Lomond hills are some of our usual walking spots during the weekend. We have plenty of books for you to find easy walks or you can check https://www.conservationwise.org/the-five-top-trails-in-angus/ and https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/ which provides a lot of tips for walks and hikes. The Cairngorms are at 1h/1.15 from Dundee too and there you can skii as well in the winter (Glenshee). Edinburgh is also a little over 1 hour from here. Although (almost) everything is feasible by bus/train by checking googlemaps, a car would help to reach more remote/wild areas. There's parking space in front of the house.

An ideal housesit which I can thoroughly recommend to others. Lovely home, great location and the highlight was Mabel. She loved to jump into my car and then we would go on a walk. She’s friendly with people and other dogs. Communication with Val and Franz was excellent and I was made to feel very welcome. Would happily sit for Mabel again!

I loved my first petsit for Mabel in Dundee, Scotland. Franz and Val are very welcoming and their home is perfect. Mabel is the cutest, most well behaved and loving little dog. She loves her walks in the park nearby and also around the suburb. She loves her treats and long lazy afternoons and loads of love and cuddles. The area is great, bus stop 1 min walk from the house, supermarket nearby and lots to do and explore.

I had a wonderful time in Dundee caring for Mabel. She is the sweetest dog - trusting, good-natured, and great with other people/dogs. It was an absolute joy being greeted by her sweet face, taking her for walks each day, and watching movies with her cuddled up next to me in her sleeping bag. I took her to Broughty Ferry where she was much loved by the folks there and she happily took the bus back with me. Franz and Val were very kind and considerate hosts. I found their welcome guide invaluable and Franz generously picked me up from the train station to welcome me to Dundee. They thoughtfully left me a sweet gift and card in the spare room I was staying in. Their home is spacious and well cared for - such a joy for me as I’m based in cramped rental London. I did yoga in Val’s beautiful yoga room and loved the home cinema. The house is well located and a short 10 min bus ride to Dundee’s centre. I enjoyed the V & A and the Dundee Contemporary Art space, as well as taking the bus to St Andrew’s. It’s also not far from excellent walking trails and parks - great for Mabel! I had a great time in Dundee and would happily look after Mabel again.

Had a fantastic stay taking care of Mabel - she’s an adorable wee dog and is very easy going. It was a pleasure to go on our walks around the area. Particularly enjoyed walking along the cycle path to Broughty Ferry with a stop off at one of the pet friendly cafes for coffee and cake! Val and Franz were very welcoming and their home is beautiful. I had a very comfortable stay there. Thanks Val and Franz for inviting me to look after Mabel - it was a great experience! Laura
