Antibes relaxed home 3 min walk to train station, relaxed pets

Introduction

We are a british family living in Antibes running a property management business from our home. We have one relaxed dog and 1 cat. We like to have the house occupied while we are away and the pets cared for in their own home. There may be occassions when we are away when a plumber, cleaner or handyman may need to collect or drop off keys from the house, all with prior arrangements.

Home & location

Our house is super convenient for everything. We are 3 minutes walk from Antibes train station and also the airport bus drops off 3 minutes walk away. It is 10 minutes walk from the centre of Old Antibes and the sea. Nice airport is 30 minutes drive away, but we usually use the bus or train to get there as it is so convenient. We have a guest room with a double bed. There is a possibility of a second twin bedroom. The bedroom has reversible air-conditioning if needed. We have a low maintenance garden which is secure for the pets (the cat jumps over the walls!). We have good wifi and also english TV channels. Our house is definitely a relaxed family home and not a showy villa (currently our kitchen is missing several cupoard doors and a couple of drawer handles!). Our house is close to a butchers and a boulangerie and opposite the frozen food store 'Picard' which is makes cooking tasty meals very easy.

Responsibilities

We like to have our house 'lived-in' while we are away for security and to take care of the pets. We have low maintenance dogs, although Gem (less than 1 year old) is still in puppy mode occasionally, they will spend most of the day on the sofa. They will love you forever if you take them for a stroll into town each day, but if you want to go out for the day with out them they will also be quite happy to sleep the day away. We have two cats, Pud and Dee. Pud reigns over the house and occupants, and he likes to be with people. Dee is an independant lady and is more likely to be out and about most of the time, although will come and demand affection from time to time. There is also another tabby cat which comes for food from time to time (she sticks her head through the cat flap which is half way up the stairs when she wants food), she is Pud's girlfriend and they can often be seen side by side of an evening out in the garden. The dogs chase this Tabby cat away if they see her. The dogs and cats don't have set feeding times, they will tell us if their bowls are empty and they are peckish. In addition to the pet care, we hold keys for lots of properties which we manage, so there is always a chance that while we are away something could happen in one of these properties which would mean we would need to arrange for a plumber or similar to come and collect a set of keys.

Sanya, Gem, Pud, and Dee are really wonderful lovable pets that like to cuddle. It was such a pleasure to spend time with them and it was difficult to say goodbye. Because Gem, who is younger, loves to go exploring, she really added to the adventure. But, she gets excited and pulls on the lead which is why the retractable one works better for her. Sanya, who is older, is patient and prefers a slower pace. Jo and Mark were warm hospitable hosts. We felt comfortable with them and enjoyed living in their peaceful, quiet home with a sunny/starry front yard. Their home is a short walk from the train station and within easy walking distance to the port, the old town and the beaches. Plus, there are several shops, and a Carrefour and a patisserie nearby. Everything you need.

What a wonderful and relaxing time we had in Antibes. We were lucky enough to have dinner with Mark, Jo & their 3 sons for a couple of nights before they went on their holidays. This gave us plenty of time to get to know them all, the animals, the house and the area. Sanya and Gem were a pleasure to take care of. We walked them every day (usually twice), but they would have been pretty “chilled out” just staying at home for the day. Gem is still young and energetic, she is truly unique! Sanya is adorable, very quiet, and loves a cuddle. Pud, the male cat kept us highly entertained. He loves human company and stays at home most of the time. His favourite time was when we had sardines for lunch. Unfortunately we never got the chance to meet Dee, she had obviously found someone else to feed her whilst we were there! The house is really accessible for everything in Antibes. The bus and train station are just minutes away. It’s also easy to walk to the shops, beach, port, fort etc. We didn’t have a car whilst we were there and did everything on foot. The guest room that we had was very comfortable with airconditioning & it’s own separate bathroom. Once Mark & Jo returned we stayed with them all for another night before we carried on with our travels. They were very kind and offered for us to stay longer, but we had made plans to travel across to Bordeaux. Thanks again to Mark & Jo for a housesit that was truly like a “holiday”. It was great to meet you all, we loved your company & hopefully our paths will cross again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend and we loved it! Mark kindly collected us from Nice airport (thanks Mark) and along with his family, were very welcoming and kind. They are a very relaxed family which made things easy, and the pets were wonderful. Gem, the youngest dog, is full of beans and loves running about and playing, Sanya the older dog is ridiculously well behaved, and very sweet, so they are a funny contrast! We saw a lot of Pud, one of the cats, as he likes being around people (especially on top of them) which is sweet, Dee, the other cat, prefers roaming around outside, so we did not see as much of her, but she is also very sweet!! We really enjoyed exploring Antibes, it's a lovely town, not too big but enough going on. We wanted to stay longer, and both of us hope to maybe return another time - thank you Mark and Jo, it was a pleasure meeting you all!
