Artist's Home on one of the prettiest streets in town.
Introduction
I am a professional artist, a painter, represented in galleries in large cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Palm Beach. I once had my studio located in the living room but have secured a beautiful studio downtown. I know my cats miss me during the day, which is why it’s important to me to have someone there with them. They warm up to people quickly and need to be included.

The den has a 60” television that is perfect for spending some time binging on Netflix, or just reading. There is a fabulous outdoor porch that is perfect for coffee in the morning and tea or wine in the afternoon. Wifi throughout. We have a charming downtown that is very alive with a handful of nice restaurants and an art gallery that could be in any large city. Our downtown is about a mile away, and is a safe and pleasant walk. Lots of great wineries and craft beer too. We even have a distillery.
Show more...Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Once a day, top off food and water dishes for the 3 inside cats. Once or twice a day scoop litter into the Litter Genie. One litter box is in the upstairs laundry and three litter boxes are located in the garage downstairs, with a very clever kitty access door. I also feed the neighborhood strays on the side porch. And depending on the season, watering the yard and plants might be necessary. My kitties love to be brushed and combed, and with their long fur they need it. These are the most affectionate and attentive cats you will ever be around. They want to be near you but not on you. They are just so easy. At different times of the year, a little visitor named Miss Mopsey lives in the house. She is a 7 pound tortoiseshell kitty, she’s had all her shots and is fixed. If she’s there you will see her on the bridge but never upstairs. She’s well behaved and causes no problems, she’s just not social.

Amy is a wonderful hostess and ensured that I was comfortable in her home. Her home is a beautiful historic home with spectacular architecture and carpentry. I loved spending quality time with Clementine and Red. There was always a kitty on my lap! Miss Mopsey is shy and the outside kitties get comfortable with you. The town and surrounding area has a lot of interesting history. Thank you for everything!

Amy was great and detailed with instructions. Clementines and Big Red are the sweetest cats.

What a pleasure it was to sit for Amy and her Maine Coon Cats, Red & Clemontine plus a few of their other friends! I definately would enjoy being invited back to "their" comforatable home.

This was a fun pet sit on many levels. First, of course, were the cats. While there were five cats in total, three house cats and two outside feral cats, we really only got to know Red and Clementine, the two Maine Coon cats. Mopsey, the other house cat is a former feral who has decided she likes to live inside and was comfortable being in the same room with us but a little too frightened to interact. Red and Clementine more than made up for it. These two fun and charming cats are bonded, easing going, and in tune with people. It took only one evening to connect with them fully allowing us to enjoy the whole week together. They are the kind of cats you want to just scoop up and take with you. Amy exemplifies gracious Southern hospitality. She invited us to arrive early and even offered to take us to dinner but we had already eaten. Her expectations were so well expressed, there was never any confusion. Amy's art-filled home and our comfortable guest room were lovely. The neighborhood is quiet and we slept well. Amy cleared space in her refrigerator, pantry, and guest closet so we could unpack and feel at home. We found Statesville to be a delightful small city. Downtown is an easy walk from Amy’s home. We found live music on two occasions and even attended a Pancake Day fundraiser by the Boy’s and Girl’s Club where we met other residents, and witnessed the pride and pleasure they take in living in Statesville. You won't go wrong if you choose to care for Amy's kittie crew. We sure enjoyed the experience. In fact, we’re headed back for a second pet sit in September. That’s how much we liked it.

Amy made our stay in Statesville beyond PERFECT – not only did she go above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and appreciated – she also provided an extensive tour of her professionally cleaned home and took time to answer all of our questions. She also included information for local trips, activities, and great places to eat. Even with being out of the country, she communicated very well throughout our month-long sit. If any issues came up, she took care of them immediately. Her bright and spacious historic home is located in a beautiful, walkable neighborhood. She has maintained the historic architecture and charm of the home while updating it with modern conveniences, including central HVAC and fast hot water with lots of pressure just to name a few. The dedicated sitter’s ensuite is also bright and very comfortable with a queen bed and a shower/soaking tub. She left us plenty of closet and drawer space in the bedroom and a clean refrigerator/freezer with lots of room for our food. (This is so rare, and we are very thankful!) We were not lacking anything for our stay. You could tell she just wanted us to be comfortable and enjoy ourselves! When we visited downtown Statesville for the first time, we thought we were in a Hallmark movie – very friendly people, great shops, art gallery (very talented artists including Amy herself), college campus, and restaurants. While Amy’s home is within walking distance to grocery store/pharmacy, downtown, urgent care and hospital and central to areas such as Lake Norman, Boone, Charlotte, or Blowing Rock, we were glad we had our car to explore. BEST OF ALL were Red, Clementine, and Miss Mopsey. Red and Clementine are such extroverts and love human interaction. (A dog in a cat’s body!) They never missed a moment to be near us and love to be brushed and have playtime! They found their spot on our beds every night! Through their laid-back personalities and sweet temperaments, it clearly shows that Amy has dedicated an abundant amount of love and time with them. Never did they run or hide nor were they ever demanding or combative. You know that you have made it when you find their toys around your bed the next morning. On the other hand, Miss Mopsey is a bit of an introvert but would reward you with her presence, have a short chat or find her way to the foot of the bed at night. They were all an absolute joy to be around, and we fell in love with them from the start! If you are given the opportunity to spend time with this fabulous family who will make you feel so welcomed and appreciated, don’t hesitate. We PROMISE you will not be disappointed! Amy, this was definitely one of the BEST kitty sits because of you and the kids! THANK YOU so much for choosing us. Having to say goodbye is the hardest part of being a sitter. They will definitely be missed! We look forward to staying in touch and also seeing more of your fabulous paintings!

Amy
I was in Mexico for the month, and every morning Denise would send me pictures of my sweet cats. It was a great way to start my day. She was an early riser which fit well with their schedule. Denise was very good at communicating with me. No hot water she says-I immediately called the company who’d installed a new hot water heater 14 months ago, and Denise coordinated with them for initial inspection and then installation. She was also a champ to put up with 4-5 days of no hot water. She was alsovery helpful in tracking down an overseas package that never seemed to get delivered correctly. I very much appreciated that. I would have Denise back anytime.

Jeanne was a hit with my Maine Coons almost immediately, so I felt that she was cat-approved. It was a quick, two night stay, and I was last minute with posting it, so we were both thrilled it worked out. I’d have her back anytime. She was laid back and seemed at ease in the house. Had her own food with her, settled in quickly, cats loved her. All good. And I really liked talking to her, nice lady.
