Stay in Tadcaster and meet Barry and Betsy!

Introduction

Hi! We are Jonny and Zoe, teachers who live in a little town called Tadcaster in the UK. We're home-bodies most of the time, but when we do go away to see family we want our fur babies, Barry and Betsy, to have some company. Tadcaster is a great little market town in itself, with independent shops and all amenities within a 10 minute walk from the house. It's also within short travelling distance from York, Leeds and Harrogate which can be easily accessed via bus.

Home & location

We live in a lovely cul-de-sac of terraced houses. We have all of the regular amenities a house would have such as: Free on-street or free private parking (around the back of the house) Living room (Wifi, Smart TV, Netflix, Prime, Disney and Now) Kitchen/laundry room (washing machine and essentials, fridge/freezer, oven, gas hob, extractor fan, dishwasher) Bath/shower room (shower essentials) Office Master bedroom (bed linens, extra pillows/blankets, hangers, steamer) Back garden (washing line, outdoor furniture) The house has central heating and a combined smoke/carbon monoxide alarm fitted. You will stay in our recently refurbished master bedroom which features a lovely king sized bed, newly-fitted furniture and luxurious carpet. Tadcaster is a historic market town with everything within a 10 minute walk. Our most popular landmark is the John Smith's and Molson Coors factories (don't worry, we're far enough away that there is no noise!), but there are also some really nice pubs/cafes and independent shops. We also have a Sainsburys, leisure centre/swimming pool, tennis courts, bowling green and the petrol station is a 2 minute drive from the house. There are some very nice walks to be taken along the river Wharfe into neighbouring towns, or if you fancy somewhere a little more lively, Leeds, York and Harrogate are all easily accessible via car or public transport. If you need anything please do contact us, or our neighbours at numbers 1 and 5 will be happy to help.

Responsibilities

Barry and Betsy are put into the kitchen overnight - they have their water and food in there with them and tend to sleep on top of the cupboards. They will use the catflap for their toileting needs. They have their morning food at around 6:30am - they both have a layer of dry food in their microchip feeders. They are both fed again at 6pm (Barry will give you plenty of notice!); a half pouch of wet food each and a top up of dried food. Barry will let you know if he needs an additional top up of dry food in the day. Just one additional top up please! He is a bit chonky. Betsy doesn't eat a lot - if she's left the majority of her previous wet food please bin it before the next lot is put in. She prefers the dried food so that can be topped up as needed. The water fountain will flash red if it needs a top up. Similarly the catflap and the microchip feeders will flash red if they need new batteries - we will leave batteries with you in case this happens. Neither of them need medication, we don't give them treats and they don't eat human food. Please don't leave them in the bedroom by themselves - for the sake of the carpet! Also please close the bathroom door when not in active use (they like to play whack-a-mole with the toilet rolls). The plants shouldn't need watering but if they look droopy please give them a splash of water. The rest of the house will be clean when you arrive so shouldn't need additional cleaning until your check out. You are welcome to use all rooms in the house but please leave the office closed - it's our storage room at the moment.

I had the most wonderful couple of days looking after the absolutely adorable Barry and Betsy! I have never in my life seen cats so perfect as they. So pristine and fluffy, so gentle and cuddly, two sweet little angels purring away - I will never ever forget how delightful they are and can’t wait to sit for them again!

I only spent two days in Tadcaster but had a comfortable stay. Barry and Betsy were good company and the house was only a short walk from the town and riverside walk.

Zoe left us a nice welcome drink and Anniversary card. Everything was just right and she is a good communicator. We had no problems with Barry who loves attention and rarely saw Betsy but knew from sightings she was OK. These are a newly married in love couple on a great life journey together.

Zoe and Jonny are lovely people, very warm and welcoming. Barry and Betsy are adorable, incredibly friendly, easy-going, love their snuggles, and are soooo cute! They love to be stroked and are very affectionate. Betsy loves a tummy rub and was full of licks each morning, while Barry was happiest laying cuddled up on the sofa, toasty warm next to us. Tadcaster is a super friendly place, and their home is within a few minutes’ walk of coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs. Our favourite was Roast Coffee Shop. Thank you so much Zoe and Jonny for letting us take care of Barry and Betsy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, they were both a total joy, and we’d be delighted to look after them again anytime.
