Ocean front on the coast of Maine, close to Portland for a golden retriever
Introduction
We are an active physician couple (with two grown children) who love to travel. While at home, we spend our time on the water kayaking, sailing, hiking or biking. We also love the local cross country ski trails and all of our amazing area restaurants as well as our home's close proximity to Portland, Maine and all the attractions it has to offer. We are passionate about our dog who is more than just a member of the family. While away, we need a caring, competent person who will love our well-behaved 4 year old English Cream Golden Retriever, Jackson, as much as we do.

Our newly (2023) renovated waterfront two story home is located on a protected bay on Cousin's Island -a short car ride, over the bridge from Yarmouth, Maine and only 17 minutes from downtown Portland, Maine via Route 295. Portland is a food obsessed city with several nationally recognized restaurants and a huge variety of food choices. It also has a vibrant art and entertainment scene with theater, movies, concert venues and art galleries all easily accessible due to it's relatively small size and lack of congestion. Yarmouth is the quintessential New England small town with many historic homes, great restaurants, outdoor walking areas, parks, and specialty stores. There is an extensive network of trails for walking and bike riding less than 100 yards from our front door (West Side Trail). Our home has 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths and amazing views of the water from the two story great room. The kitchen has completely new appliances as does the laundry room. There is a large screen smart TV in the great room and another in the downstairs bonus room. There is wifi throughout. There are three gas fireplaces indoors and an outside gas firetable. The space over the garage has been converted into a warm and inviting office hideaway. A finished basement has several pieces of exercise equipment for your use. We have a large backyard and patio. A private gangway and dock (accessed via a short path from the backyard) allows for all sorts of summer activities. The surrounding area has miles of hiking, mountain biking, cross country and downhill skiing. We are members of the Cousin's Island Seashore Land Association (SSLA) with rights that allow your use of the SSLA dock, beach and adjoining property as well. We are located on a cul de sac in a very private and quiet neighborhood populated by a few young families and a few mature neighbors. While in our home you will stay in a private bedroom on the second floor with a queen bed, gorgeous ocean views, central heat and AC, a private bathroom with shower. You will have access to the entire house and property. There is a two car garage for your use. All systems are automated. There is a central alarm system as well as Nest cameras for security outside. No inside cameras. A cleaning service is scheduled regularly depending on the time of year. The house is on a septic system, so care should be taken with what is put into toilets & the kitchen sink. We are a non-smoking family and only looking for non-smoking sitters.

Your main focus is taking care of Jackson and providing lots of TLC. He should be walked at least 3 times a day and fed twice a day. He needs playtime and socialization as he likes being around people. Otherwise, we would like someone who is respectful of property, reasonably neat and able to communicate with us while we are away. We also expect that our sitter will watch over the house and water our plants once a week. The only tasks at the house are to retrieve the mail from our mailbox at the end of the driveway once every couple days, bring in any packages delivered to the front porch and take out the trash and/or recycling depending on timing of stay. We expect sitters to purchase their own groceries/food, but you will have access to the fully stocked kitchen equipment. We ask that you keep things tidy as you found it upon our return (no major messes, dishes clean or in the dishwasher, etc.). Dirty towels can be placed in the laundry room. We would like to meet our sitter shortly beforehand on site to orient them to our location and our dog before we depart. Ours is a non-smoking residence so, please, non-smokers only.
