Home & location

Located at the edge of the Cumberland Plateau, my home is a 2700 sq. ft. midcentury modern home with high ceilings, large windows, great acoustics, large rooms and kitchen, piano, at the end of a very short, dead end street. There are four porches and an office in a greenhouse. The house is across the street from a scenic lookout that connects to 20+ miles of hiking trail. It is in the town of Sewanee which is mostly a university. This is a great place for bicycling for outdoor activities. There will be university performances, lectures, and other events open to the public throughout your stay. Campus is a 15 minute walk. There is bi-weekly housekeeping included. No children, sorry I love kids but not what some have done to my home while staying here.

Doing this petsit was absolute delight. Greg has unique art and decor so it was an adventure noticing new fun things about the house every day. We took care to enjoy his amazing selection of books & respectfully returned them back where they belonged. Greg has dishes, cookware, art & home furnishings that are important/ valuable to him, and he was kind and clear about his expectations. I appreciated the care and time he took to include that information in his Wecome Guide. I felt confident that I knew how to meet his expectations. His communication was always thoughtful and considerate. Nala is the smartest little girl. We loved hanging out with her around the house. She even enjoyed watching a movie with us. It just happened to have dogs as main characters! We loved how eager she was to go on walks. Putting on her leash was not ever a problem even though she was so excited to get adventuring. She is a strong girl too. Her pace could get pretty eager especially if other dogs or squirrels were around, but nothing we couldn't manage without a gentle verbal reminder. My 11 y/o often took Nala on walks in the neighborhood by himself. We loved this sit. The location. The artful house. The lovely Nala. We will come back anytime we can. Christina & crew

Unique one of a kind home in a very serene setting providing the perfect place to relax and unwind or be inspired to complete those work projects that have been on hold for too long... Greg provided detailed guidelines and great communication. Nala is an awesome dog, great company really enjoyed her chilled and relaxed personality and very easy to take care of.

Greg was a very welcoming host. His home was spacious, comfortable, afforded lots of natural light, and was very clean. I so appreciated the bi-weekly cleaning provided by a service. Also Gregg is a communicative and responsive host. Sewanee is picturesque. It’s surrounded by forest. Being so close to a university provides convenient eateries, campus activities, and unique shopping opportunities. Taking long walks on the various trails around town was restorative. Nala is a great companion. She stayed close to me and let me know when she wanted cuddles. She pulls a bit on leash, definitely preferring opportunities to run a few feet ahead and sniff around. Hitting the trails early in the morning, around noon, or the dog park were ideal for this. Lots of people walk their dogs before sunset, so leash during the evening walk is a must. Nala is not an aggressive dog, but gave mixed reactions to the sight of other dogs (ignoring or sniffing smaller dogs, growling at those her size). With two walks a day, about 30 minutes each or more Nala is happy. She enjoyed playing with my son and I, chasing balls (she sometimes brought them back near you, not directly to you lol), or napping. Nala also manages well in the yard and patio while you explore, provided she is left her chew toy. We enjoyed our time with her in Greg’s beautiful home.

Nala is such a sweet dog & a pleasure to care for. Greg communicated very clearly with me throughout the sit. He was very accommodating & even had a housekeeper clean before & after my stay, that was really great.
