Need dog sitter in Oregon Mountains October 7-13, 2024

Introduction

We are in our mid-seventies, a retired Orthodontist and Occupational Therapist. Our love of travel is why we signed up for this site!! Having someone stay in our house while we travel is what we need!! We enjoy traveling, golfing and walking with our dog Pepper. Most of all we enjoy being with our kids and grandkids. We love our dog, Pepper, and usually travel with her….she is so easy!! BUT we can’t take our Pepper on this trip. We need someone to walk, play and care for Peppe and our home while we are away!!!

Home & location

We live in the forested area at the base of Mt. Hood, an hour east of Portland, Oregon. Our one level home is 2700 sq.ft. with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, gourmet kitchen, living and family rooms. You have 2 bedrooms and a bath to enjoy. We have an electric heat pump and a generator if we lose electricity which can happen with wind in the summer and snow in the winter. Living on the golf course and walking to the Salmon river in 5 minutes are our favorite activities. We walk the golf course and may trails with Pepper:). Government Camp is the pass over Mt. Hood and only 15 minutes away! With snow, skiing is available in our area, about 1/2 hour away. Our small town has a grocery store and many casual restaurants while in Sandy, only 20 minutes away, are more stores and restaurants!

Ore-doggone pawsome sit with sweet Pepper! First, Kay & Dale are wonderful hosts — communication, instructions, clean/tidy home (and lots of extras!) were all top-notch. The king bed was oh-so-comfy for fantastic sleeping with cool mountain air. And floating in the pool wasn’t too bad either. Their flowers are stunning. Second, there’s so much to see and do around Welches. Our faves were Mt Hood, Hood River/the Fruit Loop, lakes, and waterfalls. We also enjoyed the many restaurants. Third, but definitely a GOLD MEDAL, not bronze, was quintessential Frenchie Miss Pepper (i.e., Pep, Pepperoni, Peppy). She warmed up to us quickly and showed us her beautiful neighborhood. Pepper snores rhythmically as all Frenchie’s do, but she didn’t disturb us and was quite funny at times. She was great in the car, and on a coolish day led us to a lovely waterfall. (We went by ourselves to Multnomah Falls and that’s a must-see!) It was our first trip to the Pacific Northwest … and we hope it won’t be our last. Kay, Dale & Pepper are family now!

This was a great housesit. Kay and Dale are exceedingly welcoming and communicative. They made us feel right at home. The house is modern, comfortable, and very well equipped. Welches itself is a little off the beaten path which makes it a perfect place to relax and unwind. There is very easy access to world class outdoors activities on the Salmon/Sandy Rivers and Mount Hood. It's a gorgeous location and a great place to explore! Pepper is unique and wonderful. She's a little dog with a BIG, charming, lovable personality. She's incredibly smart and affectionate. The only negative is... You're going to have a really hard time saying goodbye when your stay is over. You will absolutely fall in love with her! We miss her so much, especially her cuddles. 🐾💞 Apply to this housesit without hesitation, you'll be so glad you did. Thank you, Kay and Dale! We miss y'all!
