Modern apartment in Girona’s Old Town with two cats

We are Lael and Gino. We are early retired American/Italian wanderers currently living in Spain. We trek, travel, and otherwise adventure frequently but couldn’t resist recently adopting Izzy and Oli, two playful, indoor only rescue cats that need a bit of looking after when we are away. The apartment is low maintenance and the cats are sisters and keep each other company, but we still need an individual or couple willing to watch over our home and take care of them with feedings and other regular cat things as well as engage in some play time and probably some lap time.

Welcome to the Barri Vell in Girona, a fabulous and active ancient city about an hour outside of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. A mid-sized, very walkable city with a good vibe and lots going on, Girona is on the main high-speed train line from Barcelona, is a hub for cyclists, has biking and hiking right outside the door, and offers good shopping and an excellent restaurant scene. And, if you want to get out of town, Girona is only an hour from the beaches of the Coast Brava. We live on the third floor of a building right in one the main squares of the old city, Placa del Vi (The Wine Place). Our one bed/one bath apartment is newly remodeled with modern amenities and is in a secure building that also houses a few different bars and restaurants. Dining options are limitless within a 5 minute walk. The place is about a 15 walk from the train station, and less than 10 minutes to any number of food markets and shops. Although the square can be lively at times, our bedroom is in the back of the building, allowing for quiet and restful sleep. We have a clothes washer, dishwasher, fast fiber internet, internet TV, and a lift from the main floor.

-Feeding the cats twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening -Changing and filling water bowls daily -Scooping litter twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening, and adding litter when appropriate -ability to clip nails if needed - long sits only -Playing and snuggling with Izzy and Oli -Taking litter and trash out when appropriate -Generally keeping the apartment clean and secure -A photo on occasion is welcomed Izzy and Oli were born in July, 2022 and spend all their time together. They are low maintenance cats, but do want to be played with and will probably snuggle with you a bit when you are on the couch or in bed. They are indoor only, and, we would like to say they adapt to strangers quickly.

I had an incredible experience pet and house sitting at Gino and Lael's apartment, taking care of the two beautiful girls, Izzy and Ollie. Additionally, they are warm and welcoming individuals who contribute to making this trusted housesitting community feel like a supportive and caring family, fostering a sense of connection and shared appreciation for responsible and reliable pet care. The apartment is modern and beautifully decorated, situated in the charming old town of Girona. It's equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay, making my remote work experience exceptionally pleasant. Girona offers a lot—from its historic old town with filming Game of Thrones locations to a variety of quaint restaurants and cafes. It's a haven for cycling enthusiasts and nature lovers who enjoy hiking. For those craving a bit of city life, Barcelona is just a 45-minute ride away by train, with lovely French towns in the opposite direction. Art lovers can explore the Salvador Dalí Museum in a nearby town accessible by train. Moreover, there's a regular bus service to seaside villages. I would be delighted to take on this pet sitting opportunity again in the future!

This was a wonderful house sit - Lael and Gino were extremely welcoming. They provided clear information, communication was excellent and their apartment in Girona is beautiful and perfectly located in the town. Izzy and Oli were an absolute dream to look after. Awesome place Lael and Gino greeted us at the train station and walked with us back to the condo, they showed us the space and shared info we needed for their home and the girls. Izzy and Oli loving playful and just so laid back and chill cats. Very easy to take care of. We enjoyed every minute we spent with them all in their home. Girona is a very beautiful place. It was truly a pleasure Thanks, Leal and Gino.

What a fantastic stay at Lael and Gino's home! The truth is that everything´s been very special indeed. They received us extremely warmly and the communication has been excellent right from the beginning and throughout the four weeks that we enjoyed with Izzy and Oli. These two little kittens are the sweetest, most charming, affectionate and playful things you can imagine. They took no time at all accepting us into their home and gave us all the love we could ever wish for! It was an absolute joy to see how much they care for each other and really are two of the most wonderful cats you´re ever likely to meet. We have been very lucky to take the place of their pet parents for a while and have been spoiled sitters during these few weeks. Regarding Girona, it´s a beautiful city where - although it´s not very big - you can find everything: history, nature, gastronomy, etc. Lael, Gino, Izzy and Oli´s apartment is very well located in the historic centre of the city and everything interesting is right on your doorstep. Lael and Gino really are great people to get to know and for so many other reasons you´ll be truly lucky if you have the opportunity to meet this wonderful family in this beautiful city.

I had a fabulous stay at Lael and Gino's apartment in Girona with Issy and Oli, 2 very playful kittens. They were easy to look after and warmed to me very quickly so we became the best of friends. The flat is located in the old centre of the city with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. Girona is a very pretty city full of culture, history and yummy food. The communication with Lael and Gino was very easy and we stayed in touch via WhatsApp through the whole duration of my stay. I sent them daily photos with the kittens. Thank you for this lovely experience and I hope to return one day.
